We’re celebrating the journey of Kayla, our Funeral Director at R C Payne Bitterne, who is completing the Level 3 Funeral Director Apprenticeship.
Kayla shared how her confidence has grown and how learning everything from repatriation forms to leadership styles has supported her development.
What motivated you to want to complete an apprenticeship?
“I was motivated to start my apprenticeship as I wanted to better myself and take on a challenge out of my comfort zone.”
What skills or knowledge have you gained so far that have supported you in your role?
“I've gained lots of knowledge since starting my apprenticeship.
For example, I now know what forms are needed for a repatriation and burial at sea. I have looked into mushroom coffins that I didn't know existed. My knowledge of British values and leadership styles has improved. My confidence is growing.”
How do you feel this apprenticeship is contributing to your career development or future goals?
“I feel privileged to be able to complete this apprenticeship and fee; it has helped me to grow as a funeral director. I feel this will help me to continue to climb up the ladder and progress.”
Thank you, Kayla, for your dedication to learning and the care you bring to families every day.
