πŸ“’ Important information

As you will be aware from our appeals for your help and support, our Emergency Department (ED) is regularly under significant pressure.

In a bid to tackle this and enable us to prioritise emergency care for patients with a life-threatening condition, we have introduced a new system to assess and focus on the most urgent cases.

If you come to our ED you will be triaged by our clinical team. If we don’t believe your condition to be an emergency you will be offered an appointment to return and be seen at a later time or date and asked to leave our department.

This is a trial initiative which is already being run successfully at other large NHS hospitals like UHS.

Thank you for your support and helping us to improve the experience of all our patients, enabling us to give care first to those who need it most urgently.

Today is World Radiography Day and we celebrate the incredible work of our radiographers – registered allied health professionals who are essential part of modern healthcare.

Radiographers are more than image-makers. They are clinical practitioners, managers, leaders, researchers and educators. Working across two branches – diagnostic and therapeutic radiography – they play a crucial role in diagnosing illness and delivering life-saving treatments.

World Radiography Day marks the anniversary of Wilhelm Roentgen’s discovery of X-radiation in 1895. Today, radiographers use advanced imaging technologies – including X-rays, CT scanners and MRIs – to look inside the body, helping to diagnose illnesses and support interventional treatments.

Thank you to all our radiographers for everything you do. Your work is at the heart of patient care πŸ’™

This morning staff, patients and visitors came together outside our main entrance for a Remembrance Service.

Organised by our Armed Forces Network and the Patient and Family Support Hub, we honoured the bravery and sacrifice of those who have served our country, past and present.

Held in advance of both Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day, the service offered a poignant moment to pause and remember. It was a powerful tribute to the courage, resilience and unwavering commitment shown by so many in times of conflict and peace.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, your presence helped create a moment of shared remembrance that will stay with us πŸ’™
