If you are in the northern hemisphere right now, Autumn is bringing in the energy of release 🍂
In traditional Chinese medicine, autumn is associated with the Metal element, and the Lung-Large Intestine Systems.
The actions of inhalation and elimination, teach us that we don’t hold onto what we absorb.
We feel it, use only what is vital, and release the rest. 🌬️
Just as there are climatic changes such as the leaves shedding, so too does our bodies.
It’s not uncommon for grief, suppressed memories, or emotions to resurface at this time, as the primary emotion paired with the lungs is grief.
The lungs support us in breathing, allowing us to process old emotions and practice releasing them.
Lung Qi stagnation can happen when we are unable to let go of our emotions, which can manifest as being prone to worry, crying,
tightness in the chest,
shoulder and upper back pain,
sadness & self criticism.
The metal element is associated with attachment, discernment and boundaries.
Take a moment to feel what’s coming up for you,
process it (journaling, speaking about it, meditating on it)
And allow it to move through you.
Support yourself during this season with warming foods such as soups and stews. 🍲
Warming and pungent herbs, such as Ginger, Turmeric, Thyme, Rosemary, Garlic, Cinnamon and Cloves. 🌱
Allow your leaves to fall.
And surrender to the ways it may enrich the path you walk on, and weave ✨
Deep breaths, you’ve got this 😌
