Tonightโ€™s dinner may not look all thatโ€™s but it was delicious and contained all the macronutrients and micronutrients that the body needs for optimal health.

In Ayurveda we incorporate all six tastes into every meal, or at least two each day. Giving us all the nutritional needs that we need on a daily basis.

These marma points carry the vital โ€œlife force energyโ€. When these marma points are pressed, they work through the subtle energy channels called โ€œnadisโ€ to bring healing and energy to the body, mind and consciousness

There are 5 Marma points on the feet, by massaging these points we will find a sense or ease in the body, help loosen your muscles and tissues, also help promote the proper flow of energy around your body.

In Ayurveda, CCF tea is known as a digestive tonic that helps reduce bloating, gas, reduce inflammation and strengthens digestive function, speeding up the breakdown of food and treating and preventing abdominal cramping, bloating and pain.

If you are suffering from bloating or digestive discomfort give it a try and let me know how you get on.

Ingredients:

Cumin seeds: 1 tsp

Coriander seeds: 1 tsp

Fennel seeds: 1 tsp

Fresh grated ginger: 1 tsp Optional

Instructions:

Add all the herbs into a pot or bowl and pour over four cups of freshly boiled water.

Leave to infuse for 10-minutes with a lid on.

Strain the infusion through a fine sieve into a thermos, add a little raw honey to sweeten, seal and give it a good shake.

Take this flask with you and sip on it continually through the day.

January is always a good time to start focusing on your gut health, especially after what may have been a month of over indulgence, rich foods and alcohol.

Most of our immune system is in the digestive tract and the gut holds 3-4lbs of good bacteria also known as our microbiome.

Here are few tips on how to keep a happy healthy microbiome.

1. Managing Stress with Yoga helps the digestive system by supporting the nervous system. You may often hear in class, soften the jaw, relax the eyes and all the muscles of the face. This is to access The Vagus Nerve and enable The Parasympathetic Nervous System to action our Rest & Digest System.

2. Eat Fiber Rich foods - Fibre is your gut bacteria's favorite food and lack of fibre will start to deplete your microbiome and can cause constipation.

3. Eat the rainbow - All our fruit and vegetables get there colour and bitter taste from polyphenols, which feed your gut bacteria. By eating a rainbow of coloured foods, at least 30 per week, you will be hugely supporting your health.

4. Chew your food - Digestion starts in the mouth, When you chew each mouthful properly, you also release a lot of saliva, which contains digestive enzymes. As you release these enzymes into the throat and stomach, you further improve the digestive process.

5. Rest your digestive system - When we fast overnight for at least 12 hours it gives our system a rest and allows the gut lining to stay clean which keeps it healthy and maintains a stronger immune system.

6. Avoid processed foods - This is the most obvious tip, process foods have a huge detrimental effect on digestive system and health.

I will post within my private Facebook group a 10 min sequence focusing on different parts of the body, which will change every 5 days after the 20 days you will have built a full home practice.

Chakra means Wheel and refers to the energy points in your body. They are thought to be spinning wheels of energy that should stay opened and aligned, corresponding to nerves, major organs and areas of the energetic body that affect out physical and emotional wellbeing.

Over the next seven weeks we will cover each of the seven Chakras, starting this week with the first, The Root Chakra, Sanskrit Maladhara.

Yoga helps us to activate and balance the chakra system though movement and meditation.

Our Story

Hello, I'm Jackie and have been specialising in Colon Hydrothery, Gut Health and Holistic Therapies for 25 years. Including Thai Yoga Massage, Pregnancy Massage and other massage techniqes. I am also a registered Yoga teacher, teaching regular weekly classes in the local New Forest area, which includes pre and post natal yoga. I am fully trained with NCCH fully insured and registered with the professional body ARCH, also a member of CNHC, NHS reccommended along with Yoga Alliance Professionals.
