Calorie density describes the number of calories in a given volume or weight of food.
Low calorie density foods are bigger in size, but smaller in calories. Eating more of these will help to leave you feeling fuller and less likely to over consume your calorie needs.
This way you can eat more food, for less calories and achieve fat loss easier, more sustainably and without feeling hungry or missing out on nutrients.

Why are aesthetic goals important?
Why should you set performance goals?
How important are behaviour goals?

All of these types of goals play a real important role in guiding you towards success. We all have different goals, and so each goal has a different priority but having one of each can benefit the others and create a full, clear and definitive direction for how we eat, train, move and live.

Even when your aesthetic goal doesn't seem to be getting closer, you can be making huge strides in performance and building amazing consistency with your habits. And then next month, it can switch and your body starts to really change.

Setting yourself goals creates such a strong foundation for you to build your training program, diet and lifestyle.

Build good habits. Build a good future.

I cannot understate how powerful habits can be in all areas of your life.

Whether you are trying to lose weight, gain weight or improve your performance.
Even if you are trying to build a business, save money for your dream trip or trying to build your dream life - habits are vital.

Your habits are your subconscious behaviours, and all of your behaviours added up create who you are.

Focus on building positive habits that drive you towards your goals instead of moving you away from them.

Goal setting is such an overlooked part of a health and fitness journey. Going into a new diet, or training plan with a vague and unclear goal makes it easy to drop the ball, miss a workout, let that Friday night takeaway sneak through.

Having a clear, defined and realistic goal for yourself helps you to keep clarity, focus and motivations to achieve what you set out to achieve.

These are 3 types of goals that I think everyone should focus on as they offer a wide range of benefits, a varied range of focus and progress meaning that you can finish every week with a win which leaves you upbeat and motivated to push on week after week until you reach that goal.

Knowing your calorie needs is a great thing to know to help you manage your food intake, regardless of whether you track your calories or not.

It's similar to having a rough idea what's in your bank account so that you don't spend too much when you go on a night out. You don't need to write down every thing you buy, but having an idea of a budget is helpful.

I made this post to help you to calculate your own personal calorie needs, and a short explanation of how it's worked out. I didn't do this to convince anyone that calorie counting is the best way to diet, but because I genuinely think knowing that number can help everyone with whatever diet they choose to follow for themselves.

The goal shouldn't be to lose weight.

The goal should be to eat better. To move better. To feel healthier. To be proud of what your body can do, as well as how it looks. And to be better in all areas of your life.

Weight loss is just a side effect of those goals. It's a nice side effect, and it can be a useful way to track progress.

But weight loss shouldn't be the goal. Weight loss is what happens when you chase those other goals.

Consistency beats intensity, I will say it again and again and again!

We've all done it, got a surge of motivation, an exciting new workout plan, a sexy new diet plan and we're super keen to get in shape...for 2 weeks when we realise how hard it is and how tempting the pub garden is 😅

But the people who can stick with it are the ones who get results, and aren't repeating that cycle in a few months time.

My advice? Instead of trying to workout 5 times a week and stripping back calories and all enjoyment from your diet, how about you aim for a realistic number of gym visits per week, and a sustainable way of eating that isn't miserable or difficult to stick to.

Accept that results and success take time, and find a way to stick with it for that time instead of trying to rush the process because you're impatient.
