Remembrance Day allows us to reflect and honour those who came before us and the sacrifices they've made. We can also learn from the values they enacted such as servitude, dedication, integrity, respect, resilience, humanity, and from communities uniting through difficult times.

These values are also still relevant to today's world, as they translate into actions which allow us to understand, advocate, support, care, and communicate with eachother and our clients to strive for the best outcomes for them.

As we remember those before us today, may we also reflect on their values and how we can make a positive impact on others through the actions we take.

We are incredibly proud of our team members for their involvement in the interdisciplinary symposium centered on professional education in functional neurological disorders, which took place in London. This chance has sharpened their abilities and broadened their comprehension of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).

Peartree community service is passionate about maintaining this specialism to provide the highest quality of therapy to support these clients on their rehabilitation journey.

Meet our community deputy manager Vicky!

She's spent the past 27 years working in the NHS, with 25 of those dedicated to neuro rehabilitation across both hospital and community settings. She's deeply passionate about supporting people with complex needs to achieve their goals and live as independently as possible.

Alongside working directly with clients and stepping in to cover shifts when needed, she takes responsibility for overseeing care plans and risk assessments, ensuring the support we provide is always safe, effective, and person-centered. She works closely with case managers and ICB leads to arrange and complete assessments and costings, ensuring each client receives the right level of care and resources tailored to their individual needs. A key part of her role is training and mentoring our amazing healthcare support workers.

She leads and cascade trains in tracheostomy care and deep oropharyngeal suctioning, helps staff develop the confidence and expertise to deliver complex, high-quality care in clients’ homes. She's also responsible for auditing and act as the Infection Control Lead, maintaining high standards of safety and hygiene across our service.

Outside of work, she's a self-confessed cat lover and proud owner of two beautiful Maine C***s who keep life fun, entertaining, and covered in fur!

Another leap in progress for our dear client Mandy who is now able to start trialing cups of tea with her improved swallow!
This is resulting in many a tea party, some big smiles, and exciting plans for some garden centre cafe trips.

Mandy tells us she's team Yorkshire Gold kind of girl! Let us know your favorite brew too!

One major benefit of having our specialist neurorehabilitation inpatient house and outpatient hub, is that we can take our community clients to use the facilities there such as the OT kitchens.

We can also support with early discharge in inpatient settings by in-reaching, building rapport with team members, and commencing therapy prior to coming home for a smooth transition.

Below our client Deborah is practicing cooking in the impatient house with our rehab assistant Charmaine. Deborah is now at home enjoying meals with her family again.
