PMA Obviously

PMA Obviously A focus on wellbeing and mindset; the aim is su***de prevention. Positive. Mental. Attitude. Obviously!

My ultimate goal is to reduce the number of su***des globally. I do this by educating audiences on various topics that contribute to our overall wellbeing and sense of purpose and fulfilment.

Although PMAO is currently just idle in the background, this was nice to read today. PMAO is now featured in a national online directory to seek help. It's a reminder of the graft I've put in being worth it but also comes at a convenient time as I burnt out myself in February (again!).

It goes to show, even if you have good self-awareness and know what you "should" be doing in terms of your mental health and wellbeing, that no-one is completely immune.

Working on managing stress, avoiding burnout and living a healthy and enjoyable life is something you have to work at daily.

Finally feeling like my energy levels have returned and my focus this year has to change to a more balanced approach for longevity.

I still would like to revisit PMA in the distant future but this year I have other goals to keep me focused and on the straight and narrow...

One day at a time!

I've been recognised as "Most Inspiring Mental Health Ambassador 2023" ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Although I've been focusing on self-growth this year it was nice to be recognised for my fundraising efforts, raising nearly ยฃ3,000 for Baton Of Hope UK - a su***de prevention charity carrying out important work ๐Ÿง

I am keeping PMAO running in the background but had to take a step back to protect my own mental health as ironically, I was burning myself out whilst presenting on similar topics!

I am pleased to say I have finally started my own, long overdue, therapy sessions and hope to address my root causes of my trauma and suffering.

I wanted to take a proactive approach and hopefully avoid any further relapses down the line...

It has already been eye-opening and I may in fact have ADHD, alongside showing autistic traits... there's a lot more to learn about myself but I'm looking forward to the sessions.

When the time is right I will pickup my PMAO work once I can find the balance with my existing commitments and feel ready ๐Ÿ•บ

For the work I did in 2022, I've been awarded Lifestyle Coach of the Year, South England 2022/23, for the second year in a row!

I will always keep running on the side as I love sharing tips and tricks and there's power in vulnerability.

However, I made the decision to stop proactively working on PMAO after my last few sessions and talks, Summer 2022, to focus on my physical health and not overload myself.

I have replaced some unhealthy coping mechanisms and addictions with exercise and golf and feel a lot better within myself...

I finally feel in a good place about turning 30 this year and about what the future may bring...

Onwards and upwards!

Things I've done since my su***de attempt... ๐Ÿง

As it was ***depreventionday yesterday, I thought I would make a list to reflect on how far I've come in the last 6+ years, to give myself reasons to carry on and to give hope to myself and others ๐Ÿซ‚

Life isn't always easy, far from it actually! But for the short amount of time we get in the grand scheme of things, it's worth sticking around and not cutting it any shorter than it already is... โณ๏ธ

P.M.A.O! is 2 today ๐Ÿ˜€

What started as a personal coping strategy developed into a passion project and became a wellbeing business ๐Ÿค“

Putting myself very much outside my comfort zone, setting up a business which was alien to me as well as recording regular videos, creating wellbeing content and presenting remotely and in person to various corporate companies, Universities and Colleges...

Finding the balance between working on growing this with a full time job and trying to maintain my own wellbeing and physical health has been challenging to say the least!

I have taken some time away from proactively working on PMAO as I recognised I was neglecting my physical health and my stress levels were ironically getting worse!

I'm proud of how far I have come and hopefully how I've helped those I have had the pleasure of working with...

PMAO will always remain and I'm willing to present to those who would find it useful as and when it suits ๐Ÿ—ฃ

Wellbeing has so many factors and is always a work in progress ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’ช

With all the negative news that always seems to surround us it is so important to focus on your own bubble and those that matter to you most...

Wishing you all well,
Flakey

Last week I spoke to a crowded room of young finance professionals about wellbeing in the workplace...

It was by far the most nervous I had been, speaking to a group of around 50 people and using a microphone for the first time! ๐ŸŽค

I often put a lot of pressure on myself and really wanted to deliver an impactful talk. Going last after 3 other speakers presented very well also added to the tension...

I received a lot of great feedback on the night which meant the world to me. I never would have thought I could get to this position all those years ago when I was in a dark place with crippling anxiety and a fear of public speaking (I don't think I'll ever stop being nervous before speaking!)...

Once you get out of your own way, if you can find the courage to step outside your comfort zone and believe in yourself, no-one can stop you! ๐Ÿ—ฃ๐Ÿง
