💗 VALENTINES COUNTDOWN 💗
Blood pressure, what is it? 😍
It's the pressure of the blood in the circulatory system, often measured as it is closely related to the force and rate of the heartbeat and the diameter and elasticity of the arterial walls.
🩺💜
A low blood pressure is generally a reading of 90/60…sometimes this is no cause for concern and some people naturally run on a lower blood pressure compared to the textbook normal. Symptoms of low blood pressure include:
🥵 Light-headedness or dizziness
🤢 Feeling sick
🤓 Blurred vision
😓 Generally feeling weak / Fainting
🤔 Confusion
High blood pressure readings often start at 140/90, so the heart has to work a lot harder to get the blood around the body. 🧍♂️
Your doctor will measure this along with any associated risk factors such as; age (the risk of high blood pressure increases as you age), race, family history, being overweight, not being physically active, smoking to***co, consuming too much salt and consuming too little potassium and stress.
👩⚕️Your doctor will monitor your blood pressure if it is high over a period of time and may at some stage treat this with medication to help lower your blood pressure to the near normal textbook of 120/80 mmHg.
💗 High blood pressure can often show no symptoms, so many of us are unaware we have it until we get it checked, so it’s important to keep an eye on and to modify lifestyle choices if you have any of the associated risk factors to help lower your chance of developing high blood pressure.
