๐ชด My fascination with the human body developed when I was young. I then taught and helped run a dance and theatre school from a young age. This involved a great deal of responsibility. I believe this shaped me as a person as I gained confidence, determination, and inspiration at a young age, which helps me today.
โ
In my early twenties, I discovered the amazing benefits of massage, and during my own treatments, I remember feeling a pull towards the field. This feeling persisted, so I followed my intuition, asking my massage therapist for some advice on where to start training. After finding out the right credentials, I found a local massage school where I took a course in level 3 massage therapy.
โ
After that course, I was hooked, so I trained in level 3 sports massage, deep tissue, facials, lava shells, bamboo massage, and lomi lomi massage, and completed my teaching and assessing qualifications to be able to teach massage. I wanted to take massage a step further, so I also trained in oncology massage with the Jennifer Young training school and completed various other modalities. I love inspiring people and helping them to feel their best through holistic wellbeing.
โ
I also enjoy travelling and learning new languages, especially Spanish, which I have been studying for many years. I also studied yoga at the Himalaya Yoga Valley School, where I received my 200-hour yoga teaching qualification. I am a singer, and have performed at gigs, as well as a traditionally published author, with nine children's books available at Waterstones. I am also studying for a BSc Hons degree in psychology and counselling.
โ
As you can see, I love to learn, and everything I learn, I love to share. Enough about me:
๐ชด Massage is perhaps one of the oldest healing traditions. The first written records of massage therapy are found in China, India, and Egypt. At this time, massage was performed almost exclusively by the ancient equivalents of modern doctors.
๐ชด Meditation isnโt about becoming a different person, a new person, or even a better person. Itโs about training in awareness and getting a healthy sense of perspective. Youโre not trying to turn off your thoughts or feelings. Youโre learning to observe them without judgment. And eventually, you may start to better understand them as well.
๐ชด Yoga is an ancient practice that may have originated in India. It uses movement, meditation, and breathing techniques to improve mental and physical health, endurance, strength, calmness, and flexibility. There are several types of yoga and many disciplines within the practice.
๐ชด The first known Chinese text on massage therapy dates back to around 2700 BC. One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphinsโthe brain chemicals that produce feelings of wellbeing.
๐ชด A growing body of research supports the health benefits of massage therapy.
