It’s International Infection Prevention Week, and this year’s theme is “50 Years of Infection Prevention.”
STERIS’s ties to infection prevention go back even further – all the way to 1894 when American Sterilizer Company (AMSCO – which STERIS acquired in 1996) designed their first tabletop steam steriliser.

During World War 1, AMSCO brought sterilisation to the troops via horse-drawn sterilisers (pictured), which became known as “Cootie-Killers”. These were used in camps to combat various sterilisation challenges, such as lice and bedbugs.

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty will be remembered by all for her extraordinary life of duty and service. We join the nation in sending our deepest heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family for their loss.
