The Home formally a Country Manor has been established as a Care Home since the mid eighties and is registered with the Care Quality Commission for 38 residents. We offer a range of services including long term and respite care. Down Hall is often referred to by those who visit as an oasis within the heart of its own community. It is a place where residents enjoy a thriving year-round calendar of events and activities, whilst receiving the precise level of dedicated professional care they need, as they need it. Everyone who lives and works at Down Hall is considered by the friendly owners as part of a close extended family. It is a place where residents are fully supported in continuing to live their lives as they have been used to; where everyone can feel safe and secure and where independence and personal dignity is strongly promoted.

Autumn provides so many natural resources for our art and craft sessions 🍁🍂

Louise our activities coordinator supported our residents to make these wonderful autumn lanterns 🕯 to take pride of place amongst our seasonal display! We even had some pretty pumpkins that Louise grew herself 🎃

Bringing the outdoors in is a great way of making sure that every resident is able to embrace the changing seasons. And crafting is a wonderful activity for older people, encouraging them to socialise, reminisce over autumns past, and to take pride in making something beautiful 🥰

One of our favourite autumn activities at Down Hall is making hearty soups 🍵 with lots of root veggies and the odd pumpkin! 🥕🧅🥔🎃

Our lovely residents Mrs. Davidson and Mrs. Shirley both enjoyed making soup with our activities coordinator Louise, and also loved tasting the labours of their hard work!

Mrs. Shirley also helped to separate the pumpkin seeds ready for drying. We'll use these either to eat as a snack or plant for next year! 🌱🎃

🍁🍄🍂 Falling leaves and a crisp autumn breeze, pumpkin spice and everything nice! 🍁🍄🍂

We are embracing cosy season 🥰 at Down Hall Residential Care Home and have lots of autumnal activities planned for our residents to enjoy. Keep an eye 👀 on our social media pages to join in the fun!

Over the last couple of weeks lots of our residents have taken part in an autumn-themed colouring competition. Coloring provides significant benefits for older people by improving mental, physical, and social wellbeing.

Some of the benefits include...

🖍 Helps maintain fine motor skills and dexterity
🖍 Sharpens focus and concentration
🖍 Promotes healthy competition and pride

We had some wonderfully creative entries and our winner was lovely resident Fred, who won a box of chocolates🏅🏆🏅

Our Annual Christmas Fayre is booked for Saturday 22nd November. 2pm-5pm. This is an indoor event.
