We’re getting ready to open our doors once the government agree it’s safe to do so. In the meantime we will be preparing our areas ready to welcome our clients back into what I’m sure will become a new normal. Rest assured your safety is at the forefront of what we do. If you have any concerns or have been shielding please feel free to message us. We’ve been fortunate enough to have been working for the NHS during this lockdown period so have set our standards in line with clinical area management, and will work within any guidelines set to ensure you’re being cared for.

Once we receive guidelines from the government we will be reopening our doors.

We’re now home based in a specially converted space so are able to provide the highest level of protection, with space given between clients for regular sanitation, PPE, and distancing measures in place where appropriate.

We recognise the importance of key services and welcome the opportunity of seeing everyone again once it is deemed safe to open our doors to the public.

As lockdown hit we had already become exposed to covid 19, fortunately we had already stopped seeing clients a few weeks before as client safety has always been of the highest importance.

After the recommended self isolation period we were fortunate enough to have access to testing as a frontline worker for the NHS during lockdown.

Antibody tests could confirm whether people are immune to COVID-19, either due to having recovered from the illness or due to vaccination (once a vaccine becomes available). Immune individuals would be able to interact with others without fear of spreading COVID-19 or becoming infected themselves, and would be able to serve essential roles in healthcare and in reopening the economy.

Most infectious disease experts think it’s likely that COVID-19 does induce some degree of immunity in those who recover from it, but this has yet to be proven. Whether immunity to COVID-19 might last a few weeks, a few years, or lifelong is also an open question.

Please feel free to get in contact to book a provisional appointment, and we will look forward to confirming once clear government guidance is received.

From the UK founder Terence Watts

A University funded research study on the effectiveness of BWRT in PTSD has now started - it’s involving 60 patients with a pre and post test design with multiple long term follow ups at 1 week, 6 months and 12 months. It is a collaboration between the University of Bergen in Norway, Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg and Summit Clinic In Cape Town.

It is headed up by Prof Asa Hammar, Specialist in Neuropsychology at the Faculty of Psychology Division of Psychiatry, Haukeland Univ Hospital and Prof Sumaya Laher, Head of Psychology Dept, School of Human and Community Development, University of the Witwatersrand

This is a major step towards BWRT becoming professionally validated in the field of psychological healthcare - and to say we’re highly pleased is a bit of an understatement!

Thanks to my colleague and research partner Rafiq Lockhat for instigating this important step forward!
