Anna Stainer Osteopath

Anna Stainer Osteopath Osteopathy works to achieve smooth functioning of the skeleton, muscles and ligaments, in the treatm Both sportspersons and sedentary types can benefit.

As an osteopath, I know that for the body to function well, its structure must also work well. My job is to restore the body to a state of balance, where possible without the use of drugs or surgery, using manipulation, stretching and massage. Osteopathic treatment increases joint mobility, relieves muscle tension and enhances the nerve and blood supply to tissues - helping the body's own healing mechanisms. If necessary I may also give advice on posture and exercise, to aid recovery and prevent symptoms recurring. All osteopaths in the UK are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and are required to renew their registration each year by maintaining mandatory continuing professional development requirements and professional indemnity insurance. Osteopathy is suitable for any age group, from young children through pregnancy, to the elderly. It should never be painful, and patients often feel an improvement instantly.

Here’s what the nerves branching from your spinal cord look like! 🤯
Our bodies contain 31 pairs of spinal nerves: 8 cervical, 12 thoracic, 5 lumbar, 5 sacral, and 1 coccygeal. These nerves are essential for transmitting motor, sensory, and autonomic signals between the spinal cord and the rest of the body.
They enable voluntary movements, sensory responses, and regulate vital functions like breathing and digestion. Truly, the human body is an incredible product of evolution! 🤓

This is interesting..🤔🧐

From birth, your tongue is actually connected to your toes through an intricate network of connective tissue known as fascia.

If your tongue is not resting correctly in your mouth due to mouth breathing, things can get out of alignment in your mouth and the rest of your body.
Tongue posture can lead to a foot imbalance and vice versa because the tongue guides all myofascial continuity structures that run from the inner arch of the foot up through the middle of the body to the tongue and jaw muscles.

When the tongue sits on top of the palate, it seals the oral cavity and holds the throat open like a tent. These muscles support the neck, keep your posture straight, help you breathe, and maintain your posture upright.
Your tongue also acts as a rudder and support system through a fascial line, and when the tongue is down, we breathe through our mouth, and the head falls forward due to lack of support, which leads to poor posture and increased energy expenditure.

🔴 Keep Me Moving - Online Subscription 🔴

A huge part of my job is helping clients overcome their own personal barriers to exercise, and there is no denying that cost can be a said barrier. Gym memberships and personal training can be expensive, but I truly believe that exercise should be accessible to all.

I've created this monthly subscription to be as affordable as possible. Cheaper than a gym membership, and cheaper than a Personal Trainer.

£12.50 a month (just over £3 a week) will get you a fresh workout and recipe each Monday to help you start the week on the right foot 😊 Complete the workout as many times as you like that week, before it's replaced with a new one!

In addition, you'll have access to my private Facebook group full of supportive and like-minded members. 😊

All workouts will be home based and equipment free. All you'll need is some good tunes and a small space to get sweaty in!

I would also like to introduce Kerrison Preston. He graduated from the University College of Osteopathy in 1993, founded a leading regional national health centre the following year, and gained qualifications in fitness consultancy and nutritional health. In his many years as an osteopath, he has been advisor to the Red Devils Freefall Team (British Army Parachute Regiment), taught Osteopathy at Oxford Brookes University, written a book on weight loss and fitness, and developed Tairobics, a unique exercise system. After moving to Portsmouth to be closer to his parents, he joined our Southsea clinic 2 years ago. During December he can sometimes be heard playing carols on his recorder to spread some Christmas cheer!

I wanted to say a big thank you for your help in sorting out my neck and lower back pains which have been quite debilitating at times for many years. I was amazed at how quickly you diagnosed the issues causing the problems and each visit made me more and more comfortable and hopeful for the future. I had begun to feel quite panicky about how bad my back might become in the future. With the few exercises you have suggested I can keep supple and just return for a checkup in 6 months’ time. I feel SO much better! Kind regards, Fiona
