As part of Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2026, we're raising awareness of the signs that someone may have an eating disorder.

Eating disorders are not always visible, and many warning signs are often normalised.

We live in a culture that praises discipline and “clean eating”, but sometimes these behaviours can mask something deeper.

Signs to look out for:
🔹Social withdrawal
🔹Low mood, fatigue, irritability
🔹Obsession with nutrition
🔹Negative self-talk & body dissatisfaction
🔹Strict food rules
🔹Skipping meals or eating alone

If you’re concerned about someone you love and aren’t sure how to talk about it, you don’t have to handle it alone.

Our confidential helpline is here to support you.

This Eating Disorder Awareness Week, we’re shining a light on the reality of eating disorders.

Eating disorders are complex mental health illnesses – they are not a choice, a diet gone “too far”, or a sign of weakness.

They can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or background.

If you’ve noticed:
🔹Obsessive thoughts about food, weight or exercise
🔹Secretive eating or purging behaviours
🔹Dramatic weight changes
🔹Withdrawal from friends and family

It may be time to reach out for support.

Recovery is possible with the right treatment and compassionate care.

If you’re worried about yourself or a loved one, Rehab 4 Addiction can provide confidential advice and guidance on treatment options across the UK.

People often ask us if supplements or “brain boosters” can help them stop drinking.

The truth: some nootropics may support mood, focus and wellbeing during recovery, but they won’t treat addiction on their own.

Recovery works best with proper support, therapy and medical guidance.

We’ve created a clear, non-judgemental guide explaining what helps, what doesn’t, and what to watch out for:

Addiction recovery is a journey, and no one should walk it alone.

In our latest blog, we explore what it means to “pay it forward” in recovery: offering support, sharing our lived experiences, and encouraging others who may feel that recovery is impossible.

These simple acts of kindness don’t just help others — they build connection, confidence and purpose in your own recovery too.

Let’s break isolation and stigma together.

New research following over 88,000 people for 14.5 years found that those who drank an average of 14 or more drinks per week over their lifetime had a 25% higher risk of colore**al cancer compared with very light drinkers.

The risk was even higher for re**al cancer, where heavy lifetime drinking was linked to almost double the risk.

Former drinkers showed lower odds of early bowel lesions, suggesting that cutting back or stopping alcohol can reduce harm over time.

Alcohol is a known carcinogen, and sustained drinking continues to pose serious long-term health risks.

Dry dating means going on dates without alcohol or other substances, a mindful way to connect with someone honestly and sober.

It’s gaining traction both within recovery communities and among people who simply want deeper, clearer connections. Dry dating can help improve communication, reduce relapse triggers, support better decision-making, and promote overall health on your journey.

Taking a break from alcohol can bring real benefits, often sooner than you expect.

Many people who take part in a Sober 30 Challenge report better sleep, improved mood, more energy, and better focus within just a few weeks. Cutting out alcohol also gives your liver time to recover and can help reset your relationship with drinking.

Whether it’s for January or longer, even a short break can be a powerful step towards better physical and mental health.
