✨ We’re proud to spotlight the incredible work of our Clinical Services Manager, Rotimi Akinsete. ✨
In recent weeks, Rotimi has had two powerful chapters published in important books that speak directly to equity, access, and lived experience within the therapy space.
In his own words:
“I want to take a moment to acknowledge something that feels both personal and political in equal measure.
I’ve recently had two book chapters published — one in Counselling & Class and the other in Black Men, Trauma and Therapy. Both speak to areas I’ve been sitting with, working in, and thinking about for a long time.
In Counselling & Class, I’m asking questions about who therapy is really for, and how class continues to shape not just access, but the felt experience of being in the room. In Black Men, Trauma and Therapy, I’m returning to work that has been central to me over the years — thinking about Black men’s lives, their pain, their resilience, and what it means to offer therapy that actually meets them where they are.
Neither of these pieces feels separate from the communities and conversations that have shaped me — they come directly out of them.
I’m glad these conversations are finding their way into print, and I hope they continue to challenge us — as practitioners, as organisations, and as a profession — to do better and be better.”
Please join us in celebrating Rotimi’s contribution to thoughtful, justice‑focused practice and to shaping a more equitable future for counselling and psychotherapy.
