Clients often express to me their anxiety about the prospect of change, and I believe that it’s only natural to be concerned about challenging what can often be long held thoughts, beliefs and behaviours.
My own experience has taught me however, that learning to think differently and in turn behave differently is the route to improving our relationship with food for good.
Dieting over many years ‘taught’ me that some foods are good and others bad, that the key to long term success is to keep track of every morsel that passes my lips…..(forever), that I am defined by the scales - a pound off and I’m good (and happy), a pound on and I’m bad (and fed up)! These beliefs ultimately didn’t help me to lose weight and in fact only served to make me increasingly miserable.
During my emotional eating course we challenge some of those commonly held beliefs and perceptions around weight loss and explore alternative ways of thinking. Changing how we think can in turn impact on how we feel and subsequently what we do, leading to a healthier mind and in turn a healthier body…..and all with absolutely no foods off limits and no rules!
