Lucy Smith Sports Massage & Personal Training

Lucy Smith Sports Massage & Personal Training Level 3 Sports Massage Therapist and Personal Trainer Level 3 Sports Massage Therapist and Personal trainer.

Being a former Elite GBR Triathlete, National runner and swimmer I have always understood the importance of sports massage for injury prevention, recovery, and performance. For the last 7 years I have gained invaluable experience providing massage to a range of clientele, from recreational to elite athletes and everything in between. This has enabled me to give essential treatment to my clients in the comfort of their own home and often busy schedules. The satisfaction I have gained from my experience in helping people through massage goes hand in hand with personal training and the opportunity it presents for injury prevention. I will be utilising my previous experience as an elite athlete to enable me to design effective exercise programs that cater for your individual needs and goals. Fitness is a passion and a big part of my life – I want to use this to give back and to help others not only become healthier, but also happier through the right exercise! I believe that combining personal training with my sports massage will provide the perfect package for people to prevent injuries and to achieve their goals.

Hello everyone,

I am currently coming to the end of my maternity leave and can’t wait to catch up with my clients as I return to my sports massage business.

Given my new found responsibilities as a mum, I am going to be limiting my initial return to two days per week.
I have also made the difficult decision to only offer 60 minute appointments at £50.

I will be starting back from the 17th Feb on a first come first serve basis.

Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you soon ☺️

I’d like to introduce you to … I Love these products!
My wrists get sore due the nature of my profession, so I have been using them at night to help me to recover for the following day.
Important points to note are that the smell is subtle, they feel light on your skin and they really have contributed towards reducing inflammation and promoting healing in my wrists.
I have a 15% discount code available for anyone interested in trying any of these products - LUCY15

HYDRATION:
Sweating is your bodies way of cooling you down! During exercise you will need to replace the fluids that you have lost through sweating. This will ensure that your body functions effectively and reduces the risk of heat stress on your body.

PLANKS: Are an all body strength and conditioning exercise. There are many different variations of the plank, all of which are very easy to embed bad habits and poor form subsequently leading to injury. So here are some of the common mistakes people make and some pointers to ensure you carry out the correct technique:* COLLAPSING LOWER BACK - you need to draw/pull your belly button in towards your spine helping to keep your torso straight and your spine supported/safe.* LETTING YOUR HEAD DROP - focus on the floor 1 foot in front of your hands to keep your neck in a neutral position.* FORGETTING TO BREATHE - lack of oxygen will quickly make you disorientated and nauseous making you lose your form and put stress / pressure on the wrong parts of your body. FOCUS on your breathing – it will help you get the most out of this exercise.

THE IMPORTANCE OF A COOL DOWN:
Cooling down is important after exercise as it allows your body temperature, heart rate and blood pressure to gradually return back to their normal pre exercise levels.
Stretching as part of a cool down helps to reduce delayed onset muscle soreness by counteracting lactic acid build up, thus reducing the chance of muscle stiffness and cramps.
