TOUCH THERAPY WILL RETURN ....STILL BEING PATIENT!
I hope you are keeping well and welcoming, in your own way, the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions.
For me, the main aspect is to follow responsibly the guidance - I'm not rushing to get back to 'normal' shopping and leisure activities where I don't feel comfortable. I've been enjoying outings to walk and cycle in open spaces and now I am looking forward to some outings in my campervan.
Following the Prime Minister's announcement yesterday, it's clear that close contact services such as massage, wellbeing and holistic services are to remain closed "until further notice".
The Government has issued guidance on what we may need to implement in order to re-open and includes wearing face coverings and limiting the time working face to face.
An extract from this states that
“Services which require workers to be within the ‘highest risk zone’ of clients (defined as the area in front of the face where splashes and droplets from the nose and mouth, that may not be visible, can be present and pose a hazard from the client to the practitioner and vice versa), for the entire duration or the majority of the time the service is being provided, should not be resumed unless they can be adapted in line with this guidance to make them safe (for example, by moving out of the highest risk zone and wearing a visor).”
In the course of a bodywork therapy, it would be impossible to “move out of the highest risk zone” and wearing masks would certainly impact significantly on the usual environment I think is preferable for a therapy. We hope the guidance will change as the risk reduces and the situation changes.
While I appreciate the government is continuing its efforts to control and monitor the spread of COVID-19, it is disappointing news for you and me. FHT and other professional associations/bodies are collaborating to lobby Government on behalf of members through the Integrated Healthcare Collaborative, All-Party Parliamentary Group on Beauty, Aesthetics and Wellbeing to help take the industry forward as we emerge from lockdown.
Stay well and I'm happy if you want to contact me before we meet again.
Warm wishes
