🌟 I can hardly believe that the day has nearly passed without us realising or acknowledging the incredible milestone that Blue Star St Andrews is celebrating today - our 12th year in business!

This journey has been nothing short of amazing (if sometimes a little bumpy 😉) and it wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of our friends, families, service users and dedicated staff.

🫂 As a care assistant with us your day will be filled with meaningful interactions and activities. You will play a pivotal role in delivering great quality, person-centred care to our service users within their own homes. Your responsibilities will include providing excellent care and support, assisting service users in all aspects of their care needs—whether physical, emotional or spiritual. You will also provide valuable support and guidance to family members, engage in day-to-day activities and offer companionship to our service users.

😔 This is a very difficult but necessary read.

New analysis shows that thousands of people have died while waiting for social care decisions, not because care didn’t exist, but because the system failed to act in time.

Social care delay is not an abstract policy issue.

It has REAL consequences for REAL people, families, hospitals and communities. When decisions stall and funding doesn’t keep pace with need, people are left in limbo and the whole system backs up.❌

Social care is not a “future reform” problem. It is a today problem that affects hospital flow, family carers, workforce stability and people’s safety right now.🙌

If social care is recognised as essential to the functioning of the NHS and wider public services, it must be treated with the same urgency, including clear accountability and sustainable, ring-fenced funding.

People cannot wait indefinitely for decisions that determine whether they can live safely and with dignity.
