✨️Finalist Focus✨️

Dementia carer of the year finalist - Donna Hammanz.

Henbrook House recently became one of the highest rated homes for dementia care earning an amazing three star platinum accreditation.

Donna is one of our dementia champions, a role that involves enhanced training and supporting others across the home.

Ask anyone at Henbrook House who sets the tone for care, and they'll likely mention Donna.

Not a spotlightlight seeker she plays a key role in our award winning dementia care.

When asked for her reaction to being named a finalist, Donna said "Its humbling, i just try to do my best every day"

And she certainly does that as one family member quoted.
"Donna sat with my dad through the night. She didnt just care for him, she cared about him."

Already a winner with our Henbrook family, we wish Donna all the best for this fridays Great British Care awards ceromony.🏆

🍁🍂 A Fayre-ly wonderful afternoon.
🍁🍂

Henbrook House once again invited our amazing comunity to join us for our very first Autumn Fayre and pumpkin trail.

Along with local craft businesses our residents, even ran a charity fundraising stall selling items that had been painted and knitted over recent weeks.

We were delighted to have raised well over £100 for the 'make a wish foundation'👏👏

After completing 3 puzzle tasks, all children got given a token to the pumpkin patch to go choose one which they could then decorate.🎃

With seasonal food and drinks includig our Henbrook Spiced cider, it made for yet another incredible community event here in our wonderful home. 🏡

Preperations for out Christmas event are now in full swing. We can not wait to share with you the detail of our 'Christmas Trail' 🎄

✨️ Thinking Pink this October✨️

All month residents and staff here at Henbrook House have been taking part in a multitude of activities as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Celebrated in October since the eighties, people around the world adopt the pink colour and display a pink ribbon to raise awareness about the importance of prevention and routine screening for the early diagnosis of breast cancer, now the second most commonly diagnosed cancer globally.

Throughout the month, residents were invited to hear the stories of stories of those who have been affected along with a special visit from Tracy Honeyman who gave a talk on the many charity fundraising walks she has taken part in.

Themed cup cake making, pink cake coffee mornings, a look at 'knitted knockers' and even a pin the 'b***y on the Brian' game were amongst the many ways we here at Henbrook helped support and raise awareness.

Our celebration of survival and strength concluded with a special performance from the amazing Raw Divas where staff and residents were invited to wear pink for the day.

✨️Connection through the power of puppetry✨️

Using puppets with people living with dementia can improve communication, stimulate memories, and promote emotional well-being. Puppets offer a non-verbal way to connect, express feelings, and recall life stories through performance and storytelling. This can lead to increased calmness, social interaction, and self-esteem.

Our focus on person centred care here at Henbrook House, means that we adapt to meet the wellbeing needs of all our residents.

🎪 A "Big" Top weekend🎪

It was all the fun of the circus this weekend as some of our amazing residents took their seats for an amazing performance of dance, acrobatic artistry and plenty of laughter.

Yet another wonderful afternoon out here at Henbrook House 🏡

✨️100 years of Magic ✨️

Henbrook House celebrated 100 years to the day of the amazing Walt Disney in true style yesterday.

From themed wordsearches, history talks and quizzes through to Character lunches and a Cinderella performance, we certainly captured the magic of Disney here in our wonderful home.

🤝 Meet Wes! 🤝

Henbrook House recently made an internal promotion for one of our Senior Care Team.

Welcome Wesley Reed, as he takes over the reigns from Michelle as our new Deputy Manager.👨‍💼

Wes started his career in 2018, working in residential, dementia and specialist mental health care homes.
It was supporting those with residential needs and living with dementia that he felt most passionate about, which brought him to us here at Henbrook House.

Initially working as a carer, Wes worked his way up to the position of senior carer and it wasn't long before a further promotion to senior lead was established.

In his spare time, Wes likes to spend quality time with his three young children and fiancé. As a long life Manchester United fan, it goes without saying that our Deputy is prepared for adapting in order to succeed.🏆

When asked about his new appointment, Wes had these few words to say.

"At heart, my goal is to make the impossible possible, giving “living a life more extraordinary” real purpose and value within the home. I believe in leading with kindness, empathy and respect. I am passionate about mainteining the highest standards of care to those we support and and dedicated in developing the team. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨️ The week that was.✨️

Another action packed week here at Henbrook House.

It was a return to the indoor bowls season for our Henbrook Harriers where the fast paced greens took a little getting used to.
Autumn garden centre trips were on the agenda as we started to see some of the Christmas displays taking shape.

Meanwhile back at home, we were entertained by the uplifting talents of our performer Charlie Chaplin.

A new game for us this week as residents battled it out against each other in a game of beat the clock.

That was soon followed by good old fashioned game of penny up the wall where the competitive nature of some of our residents soon showed itself. 🪙🪙

Pre lunch dance and music memory sessions are always popular with everyone, especially those living with Dementia and Alzheimers.🎶🥁

One resident even got their very own exclusive behind the scenes tour of our amazing home.🍳

We took a step back in time with a paper display of memorabilia from days gone by ranging from the 1930's - 1970's.

We ended the week with a tea and cake afternoon whilst being entertained by the accoustic sounds of Carla Gray.🎸🍰☕️

With our childminding groups, twice weekly Bingo sessions, canvass art groups and games a plenty including a fun crisp tasting challenge. It made for another fun packed week here in our amazing home 🏡
