Tennis elbow: Lateral epicondylitis/ lateral epicondylopathy
With the first blue skies and the smell of Wimbeldon in the air we welcome in Tennis Elbow season. For the uninitiated this can be pain on the outer part of the elbow joint, loss of grip strength, pain when gripping or all of the above.
The symptoms can be prolonged and with frequent relapses if poorly treated.
Poor tennis technique, hitting wet balls or hitting against the wind can cause or irritate an existing condition. Forearm tightness/weakness is believed to be the main initiator of this condition and as such a multimodal therapy programme, which includes stretching and strengthening is generally prescribed.
Make it game, set and match against Tennis Elbow this year! For a chat about this condition or any other contact me on my website or give me a call.
