⚠️ How-to report damp and mould ⚠️

Your home might have damp and mould for a few reasons - property damage, broken extractor fans or poor ventilation.

If you notice a musty smell or black mould spots, please report to us as soon as possible.

We will:
🛠️ Treat damp and mould wherever it is present
🛠️ Help reduce condensation which causes mould growth
🛠️ Offer support so you're able to heat your home
🛠️ Carry out an in-depth survey if mould keeps returning
🛠️ Complete any additional repairs that are causing damp

🎄 Meet The Sandford's festive heroes 🎁

While many families will be unwrapping presents and enjoying festive meals, dedicated key workers from The Sandford will be spending their Christmas Day making sure others are cared for, safe and supported.

At The Sandford nursing home, in Church Stretton, nurses and care assistants will be helping residents with their personal care and making sure their needs are met.

Instead of spending time with her husband and their two sons, Care Assistant Agnes Makotose, will be providing support for residents on Christmas Day.

Agnes said: “Working in care is more than a career for me, especially here, you get to know each and every person; their needs, their likes and dislikes, it’s more like a second family. The residents appreciate you so much, even if they can’t say it verbally, you can tell by their facial expressions and body language.

“It’s important that the residents know that someone will be there for them, whether their family visits or not. Sometimes family members may not be able to come for Christmas, but they know we’ll be there for their loved ones.”

Enjoy free hot drinks at our warm space this winter ☕

Our Burton Square Community Hub has become a ‘warm space’ for those in need during the colder months.

These welcoming and friendly sessions provide an opportunity for anyone to enjoy a cuppa and some snacks while socialising with others in a safe and warm environment.

Geoffrey visits the hub every week for a drink and a natter.

He said: “The hub is a lifeline; it’s changed my life. It’s given me people to talk to, and I’ve made friends here.

“I come at least twice a week and they have my cup of coffee ready for when I arrive!”

Happy International Day of Older Persons! 🎉

This year’s theme is Building Belonging: Celebrating the power of our social connections.

At The Sandford, our nursing home in Church Stretton, we are committed to promoting a strong sense of community and belonging wherever possible. Loneliness is a serious issue among older people — with around 940,000 older people in the UK experiencing it often according to recent studies. It’s something that deeply affects mental health and well-being, and it’s why we put so much heart into creating moments like our Summer Fete in August.

It was a fantastic day, bringing together residents, families, friends, colleagues, neighbours and the wider community. With lively performances from the Church Stretton Accordion Band and the Lower Deckers Sea Shanty Group, plus games, great food, and even better company — the day was full of joy, laughter and meaningful connections.

Liz Hooper, Activities Coordinator at The Sandford Nursing Home, said: “At The Sandford, over the past year, we’ve proudly opened our doors even wider to the local community — welcoming local historians, storytellers, wildlife groups, performers and even the local primary school for monthly visits. These connections mean the world to our residents and have helped build lasting relationships across generations.

“We want our residents not just to feel at home, but to truly feel part of a warm, supportive and loving community.”
