And just like that the festive season is here 🎄

We started the celebrations with the wonderful Gazebo band! We sang our favourite carols and hymns and spirits were high! We toasted with a lovely little sherry and we are looking forward to all the future festivities to come! 🎅🎄

🇿🇦 South African Theme Day !

We “travelled” down to the Rainbow Nation and explored its rich diversity. From learning greetings in South Africa’s 12 official languages to hands-on drumming and flag crafts, everyone got involved!

🦁🐘🦏 We also spoke about the famous Big Five — lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino — and asked everyone if they knew what they were. It sparked great conversation about wildlife and South Africa’s rich natural heritage.

🌍 We chatted about the many different accents across South Africa. Just like any other country, the accents vary widely — from Afrikaans and Zulu to Xhosa, Tswana, and more — showing just how wonderfully diverse the Rainbow Nation truly is.

🍽️ The food was a major hit — boerewors (with Mrs Ball’s chutney, of course!), vetkoek with mince or with jam and butter, a delicious peppermint crisp tart, and our koeksusters, which is very popular among Afrikaans and boere folk. A true taste of home for our South African staff! Some even tried some Biltong!

A special thank you to our kitchen team, and our head chef, who prepared all this wonderful food for us. It was a little out of their comfort zone, but they absolutely nailed it — and everyone loved every bite!

🥁 We enjoyed different styles of African music, including Zulu, Venda, Xhosa, and boere rhythms. One of our team members gave an amazing drumming demo in his own language, and our wellbeing coordinator, Chantal, taught everyone a few Afrikaans words.

A day full of laughter, culture, wildlife facts, and great food — and we can’t wait for our next country adventure! 🌍✨

🧁Cake4Kindness CIC Day🧁

Yesterday we were proud to take part in this year’s Cake4Kindness CIC event! 🍰💜

Our team chose to support the Light Project Peterborough, and our wonderful chef and kitchen team baked and decorated trays of handmade cupcakes to share a little sweetness with those who need it most.

These were delivered by Sarah on behalf of our residents and were handed over to Teresa and Sam from the Light Project Peterborough.

Small acts of kindness make a big difference. 💜

🌞 Tallington Lodge on Tour – Day 2 in Blackpool! 🌊

What a fantastic day we've had! We started with a lovely walk down to the North Pier, taking in the fresh sea air and those classic Blackpool views. 🏖️

Next, we enjoyed a little retail therapy at the shopping centre! 🛍️

We finished our day in true style with afternoon tea at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom. ☕🍰 The sandwiches and cakes were absolutely delicious, and watching the elegant ballroom dancing was simply spectacular. 💃🕺

We’ve well and truly had an amazing time today – Blackpool, you’ve been wonderful! ❤️

Rememberance day 🌹

We honoured rememberance day and celebrated all the heroes who died for our country by making our own lovely poppies and we went around local villages to see all the beautiful poppy displays! We especially enjoyed stopping over at the crowland abbey where we learnt a lot about the history of the remaining building!
