We couldn’t believe our eyes this morning when we woke up to ANOTHER sunny day!!! 😮

Of course, there was no chance we were missing out on getting our fair share of sunshine, so we headed for a stroll around the lake 🚶🌊

It was a great way to introduce our new Lifestyle and Enrichment Coordinator, Chris, to everything Standish Care Village has to offer! 👀👋

Meanwhile, Pauline headed to the gym for her first session with Freddy, focussing on some seated strength and mobility 💪

Yesterday we put our reaction time to the test with the hand speed challenge before a bit of balloon target practice 🎯

Then today we made the most of the sunshine and headed out into the garden with some of our friends from Worthington Lake for our seated sports session with Stacey from Rise Southport, Ormskirk and Formby ☀️⚽️

Our Ron had his first session with Standish Care Village Personal Trainer, Freddy, last week, and what a session it was! 🤩

We knew Ron was strong, but wow, did he impress everyone with his skills 😯 💪

Freddy is back again this week, working with more residents to help them reach their individual fitness goals, whether that’s keeping the brain engaged, building strength, or improving mobility 🧠💪

We completed our February exercise challenge this week with a final set of seven exercises, all aimed at supporting mobility ✅

Fitness isn’t always about pushing ourselves or getting stronger, sometimes it’s simply about using the skills we already have and making sure we don’t lose them.

Our fitness suite is the perfect space to support mobility, offering a variety of equipment that adds a little extra challenge to stretches and movement. Having a gym within the home has made exercise part of everyday life, easily accessible and right at our fingertips 🏋

Yesterday began with a beautiful music session where we discovered we all have very eclectic tastes, from classical and country to rock 🤘

We went from The Blue Danube to Ozzy Osbourne, then enjoyed a bit of Patsy Cline and Amy Winehouse to finish off, and of course, we couldn't resist a good boogie 🎶💃

The weather wasn’t on our side in the afternoon, so we swapped our off-roading practice for a bit of indoor pottery, and Elaine fancied a spot of letter writing 🏺✍️

Later on, Ron had his first session with personal trainer Freddy, where he wowed us all with his strength! 💪

On Friday, 6th March, we'll be hosting the next Together in the Village event - a Spring Planting Workshop, run by Ali Ball, the Wigan Wildlife Gardener 🎉

We're so excited to welcome our friends from Lakeside and Worthington Lake, and members of the local community, for a hands-on activity, planting strawberries ready for Spring 🪏🧑‍🌾

We’ve had a lovely couple of days welcoming some new faces to Langtree 💚

Yesterday, we headed out for a gentleman’s afternoon at The White Crow with Fredery Kery. While Fredery is already a familiar face around Langtree, we were delighted to officially welcome him to the team as the Standish Care Village Personal Trainer 👋

Today, we held our very first Baby & Toddler Group and had the pleasure of welcoming some little ones and their families into the home. It was wonderful to watch their confidence grow throughout the session as they got to know our residents, and the smiles they brought to everyone’s faces were so heartwarming 🥰

We can’t wait to do it all again at next week’s group! 👶✨

Earlier this month, we welcomed Joe from 24 PICTURES to our home to capture a few bits of what everyday life is like for our residents and staff here at Langtree 🎥

From music sessions with Beth, to keeping fit in the gym, Joe had the opportunity to see just how varied every day is, with activities tailored around each resident's interests 🎶🥊

Today started with some armchair exercises with Maddie, getting us all ready for the day ahead 👏

We didn’t let the passing showers stop us this afternoon, as some of us headed out for a refreshing walk around the lake, while others enjoyed a gentle stroll around Standish Care Village 🚶☔️

We then popped into our sister home, Lakeside, to catch up with friends, who treated us to a cheeky brew and a slice of cake ☕️🍰

This week, we've been focusing on testing our strength as part of our February exercise challenge 💪

Ron and Brian have been regulars in our Boston Active fitness suite, utilising the cable machine and adapting exercises to suit them. But it's not just our residents who have been visiting the gym; one of our wonderful Nurses, Melissa, has been busy working out too! 🏋️‍♀️

Starting next Wednesday, we'll be hosting a weekly Baby & Toddler Group from 10:30-11:45am 👶

The Group will be a wonderful opportunity for residents and young children to enjoy intergenerational activities together 🤩

From musical expression to sensory play, the Group promises engaging sessions that will vary each week 🎵
