Today we celebrate 25 years of dedication from one of our most experienced funeral directors, Ian Reid.

Since Ian first walked through our doors in Staple Hill on the 11th of December 2000, he’s supported countless families across South Gloucestershire and Bristol... and even a few further afield, including Cork and Falkirk.

Ian's compassion, professionalism, and calm presence have guided thousands of families through some of their most difficult moments. He’s also been a guiding light for many of our junior funeral directors over this years. His commitment to the families we serve, and to his colleagues, is truly exceptional.

Congratulations, Ian, on an incredible 25 years, and thank you for everything you’ve done (and continue to do) for the community and our team.

We’re delighted to be back open in Yate!
After a complete refurbishment over the summer, our F Woodruff branch in Yate has now been open again for a couple of months.

While we’re still in the same location we’ve proudly served from for the past 30 years, the building has undergone a full transformation thanks to the fantastic team at .

The newly refurbished premises include two arrangement rooms, a private chapel of rest, an open-plan reception area, as well as our modern mortuary facilities.
We’ve also refreshed the exterior with new rendering and signage to reflect our updated branding.

Please pop in and see for yourself, whether you’d just like to say “hello”, or if you’d like to speak with us about arranging a funeral or pre-paid funeral plans. Our team are in branch Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

If you need us outside of those hours, our telephone lines are open 24 hours a day.

This Remembrance Day, we join our communities in pausing to honour the men and women who gave so much in service to others.
Their bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

A huge thank you to everyone who baked, donated and supported our charity bake sale yesterday at our newly refurbished F Woodruff, Yate branch.

Donations are still coming in, but so far we’ve raised over £550 for Young Lives vs Cancer !

It was a fantastic day and a wonderful opportunity to show off our refurbished site while raising money for such an important cause. We were also thrilled to welcome some special guests in the form of Councillor Aziz Chowdhry (Mayor of Yate) along with Ed Middleton & Dom Goodman from Gloucestershire Cricket .

We were also able to donate a few unopened bakes to The Salvation Army.

Thanks to all the team that made this happen, already looking forward to the 2026 Charity Bake Sale.

All proceeds go to Young Lives vs Cancer, supporting children, young people and their families through cancer.

As part of our ongoing rebrand, the Sheppard family name now sits proudly alongside the well-known local identities of HG Harris, F Woodruff, and L&J Gulwell.

We continue to honour the legacy of Tommy Harris, Fred Woodruff, and Les & Jean Gulwell, whose names will remain above the door in their local towns, as we remain dedicated to serving local families as they have for generations.

Our new site celebrates the Sheppard family’s 50 years of care, with familiar features like online donation profiles and new tools to better support the families we serve.
