Today was filled with pure sunshine as we welcomed six year old Amaya to Martins House 🌼💛

As part of her Kindness Day with the Rainbows Club, the youngest section of Girl guiding, Amaya chose to spend her time spreading joy to others. She arrived carrying beautiful spring flowers, carefully handing out bright yellow daffodils to our residents with the biggest smile on her face.

From the moment she walked in, the atmosphere lifted. Residents were delighted by her thoughtful gesture, and it was heart warming to see generations coming together in such a simple yet meaningful way. The cheerful blooms brought colour to every room, but it was Amaya’s kindness that truly made everything shine.

Moments like this remind us that kindness has no age limit. A small act, a bunch of flowers, and a little courage can create memories that stay with us long after the petals fade. Thank you, Amaya, for brightening our day. Everyone absolutely loved their daffodils 🌸✨

✨ It was a true privilege to welcome the incredibly talented Neil Colledge to Martins House, where he spent the afternoon entertaining our residents with his beautiful piano performance 🎶

From the very first note, the room was transformed. His classical melodies filled the space with warmth, calm and joy, creating an atmosphere that felt both uplifting and deeply moving. Residents sat listening intently, some gently tapping along, others simply closing their eyes and soaking in the music.

Neil has been performing for over 30 years, giving concerts in cities such as Cambridge, Oxford and London, and sharing his talent internationally across France, Holland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and even Gibraltar. It was wonderful to hear about his musical journey and the experiences that have shaped his passion.

He told us that his favourite composer is Sergei Rachmaninoff, whose powerful and complex compositions he greatly admires. When he feels like challenging himself, Neil enjoys playing some of Rachmaninoff’s exceptionally difficult pieces, a true testament to his remarkable skill.

Music has a special way of bringing people together, stirring memories and touching emotions in ways words often cannot. Thank you, Neil, for sharing your extraordinary talent with us and for giving our residents an afternoon to remember 💛

Today is National Love Your Pet Day! 🐾❤️

To celebrate, we had a wonderful visit from Lizzie, our therapy dog, who brought so much joy and comfort to everyone. 🐶 It’s amazing how much love and happiness our furry friends can bring into our lives! Pets As Therapy

His captivating swing, jazz, to ratt pack performance brought a touch of classic elegance to our home.

Love was in the air this Valentine's Day!
The residents of Martins House truly embraced the spirit of love and creativity. They poured their hearts into crafting beautiful Valentine’s cards, each one a unique expression of affection and friendship. Alongside this delightful activity, they made heart-shaped decorations that added a festive touch to the atmosphere. Seeing the residents explore their creative side through arts and crafts was wonderful to see and helped boost morale all around our care home 😁🎨

To sweeten the day, everyone enjoyed delicious heart-shaped cookies paired with a nice cup of tea, creating the perfect combination of warmth and sweetness. As a special treat, each resident received a thoughtfully prepared treat bag filled with an assortment of sweets and chocolates, ensuring that no one left without a token of love to cherish. It was a day filled with laughter, joy, and heartfelt moments that reminded us of all of the importance of connection and kindness 😆🍭🍫

These activities help keep the mind active which is so important for physical and mental wellbeing as well as using group crafting to bring residents together by encouraging conversations. Using an activity on a day so full of love and memories this session also prompts conversations about past relationships, loved ones and happy memories 💟

🎉 What a wonderful day at our home! Our residents were joined by Gavin from Kiddleydivey UK ! 🤹‍♂️ for an interactive, laughter-filled show full of fun tricks, games, and surprises ✨

Everyone loved joining in, watching the amazing tricks, and sharing lots of smiles and happy chatter. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, and it truly was a memorable afternoon that brought joy and laughter to all ❤️💛

Today at Martins House , we had a delightful visit from Performing Pets ! 🦜✨ They brought along their charming budgies and an adorable cockatiel who stole our hearts. Watching these feathered friends interact was truly a joy, and our residents loved getting involved! 🐦💕
