The Muster Point

The Muster Point The Muster Point CIC supports the Armed Forces community through drop-in hubs, peer support, signposting, and our podcast. Company No. 16546675

Veteran-led, community-driven, and here to reduce isolation and improve lives across Hertfordshire and beyond. The Muster Point is a veteran-led support group in Stevenage, providing camaraderie, guidance, and assistance for ex-service personnel. We host weekly meetups (Tuesdays, 10 AM-12 PM at Fairlands Valley Lakes), offering a safe space to connect, share experiences, and access mental health, financial, and employment support. With events, workshops, and advocacy, we ensure no veteran is left behind.

Today’s Muster

Great turn out.
Great banter.
Great brews.

Exactly what a Muster should be. Veterans coming together, sharing a brew, a laugh, and that sense of camaraderie that never really leaves you.

If you’re a veteran in Stevenage or Hertfordshire and fancy good company without pressure or paperwork, this is your space.

This donation says everything about why we do what we do. 😪😪

Millie is the youngest daughter of Alex, who will be running the Arc of Attrition 100-mile ultra marathon, one of the toughest endurance events in the UK.

Her message said it all: “I love you, only got £3 in the bank lol.”

She then donated £2.

A child giving almost everything she has to support veterans through The Muster Point. No pressure. No recognition expected. Just pure kindness, empathy and belief in what her dad is doing.

That £2 represents more than money.

It represents family values, sacrifice, compassion and community.

It restored faith in humanity and reminded us why this work matters.

Alex may be running 100 miles, but Millie just showed extraordinary strength of character.
If a child can give her last few quid, the rest of us can stand with our veterans too.

👇 Support Alex. Support veterans. Support The Muster Point.

Afternoon tea at Iris Court Care Home ☕🍰

A cracking afternoon spent at Iris Court Care Home, brews on, cakes out, and stories flowing.

Met some brilliant people, including a lady whose husband once discovered a German bomber pilot in a field after his aircraft was shot down. History served with a cuppa.

And before anyone asks, we didn’t leave Andy there… although Steve and Stu have booked themselves a week’s respite for the spring. Quality control, obviously.

Big thanks to the team and residents for the warm welcome. We’ll be back.

BREAKING NEWS (apparently): Veterans to be recalled up to the age of 65 from Spring 2027…

So here they are.
The Muster Point Veterans.

Grey hair, dodgy knees, reading glasses on parade… ready and raring to go.

If the call comes, we’ll answer it the only way we know how:

👉 Complaining loudly
👍 Asking where the nearest brew is
💪 Checking if phys has been replaced with a nice walk and a bacon roll

Jokes aside, this is what experience looks like.
Years served. Stories earned. Still standing shoulder to shoulder.

Don’t worry though — we’ve got this.
As long as there’s tea, banter, and someone else carrying the kit.

This is Alex.
He’s taking on the Ark of Attrition Ironman to raise funds for The Muster Point and support the Armed Forces community across Hertfordshire and beyond.

Training looks suspiciously like organised chaos.
Running hills. Random press-ups. Nearly squaring up to livestock.
Exactly the sort of commitment we like to see.

If you enjoyed the banter, back the effort.
Every donation helps us keep veterans connected, supported, and never facing things alone.

🎂 Tuesday Morning Muster – 1 Year On 🎂

Today’s Tuesday Muster marked one year of The Muster Point — done the only way we know how: brews, banter, and good people.

What started as a simple idea is now a proper community. Familiar faces, new faces, laughs, stories, and no need for speeches. Just camaraderie.

Thanks to everyone who’s shown up, stuck around, and made this space what it is. This is your Muster.

Here’s to year two.

Even the DS has weighed in.

A big shout-out to Billy Billingham from SAS: Who Dares Wins for sending Steve a get-well-soon message.

Orders received loud and clear:
✔️ Get well
✔️ Get off the biff
✔️ Stop blagging it

When Billy says you’re fit for duty, there’s no arguing. See you back on your feet soon, Steve — excuses revoked, banter fully reinstated.

One year ago today, The Muster Point began.

What started as an idea is now a community.

Built on brews, banter, honesty, and looking out for one another.
Thank you to everyone who has shown up, spread the word, volunteered, supported, donated, shared a post, or simply pulled up a chair. You made this happen.
Here’s to the last year.
And to many more to come.
Still here. Still standing. Still mustering.

NEW: The Ladies Muster

We’re launching The Ladies Muster — a space for women who have served, are still serving, or have supported the Armed Forces as family members.

If you’re looking for good company, proper banter, and a relaxed environment with people who get it, this one’s for you.

🗓 Sunday 15th February
⏰ 11am–1pm
📍 The Old Red Lion, Stevenage, SG2 9XR

The group will be run by Amanda, one of our female veterans and yes, that means Stu and Steve will be absolutely nowhere in sight.

Much like they were when the rifles came out for cleaning.

No pressure. No labels. Just turn up.
