LML Therapy Clinical Hypnotherapy & Hypnobirthing in Stirling
NCH & CNHC reg. I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist based in the Forth Valley area of Scotland.

My background is in Psychology - I graduated with my MA (hons) degree from the University of Edinburgh in 2012, having always been fascinated by the human mind and behaviour. My first personal insight into hypnotherapy was in the form of hypnobirthing, which I studied and used for the births of my second and third children. I was amazed at what a difference the techniques made – it was such an empowering and positive experience. This motivated me to look into training as a hypnotherapist. I have 3 young children, all with additional support needs. As a carer for their complex needs, it has helped me grow as a person and truly appreciate how unique we all are. I have always been inclusive and non-judgmental in my outlook on life, but having children with both rare health issues and neurodivergence has made me much more understanding of the challenges people may face in their lives. I am a calm, empathetic and approachable person, aiming to inspire and support people to make a positive change in their lives. I believe passionately in everyone striving to become the best version of themselves and living their best life. I hope to use the vast array of skills and knowledge I have to empower people and improve their quality of life. I am very aware that physical and mental health issues are on the rise globally. I truly believe that hypnotherapy holds the key to relieving some of these pressures by improving people’s mental and physical wellbeing. I am fully qualified with my HPD (Hypnotherapy Practitioner’s Diploma), Dip(CAH) (Diploma in Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis). I have also done a specialist course on working with children and families. I am registered with the NCH and CNHC these are professional bodies to ensure ethical and professional standards of practice.

Dissociation is a coping mechanism that a lot of teens are turning to. This article has some useful guidance on how to spot dissociation and where to turn to for support.

‘…When dissociation happens, stay physically present and calm. Offer to help them with activities like going for a walk, breathing slowly, or doing something sensory, such as holding a warm drink.
If dissociation happens frequently or severely, consider reaching out to a mental health professional or GP for support...’

Dissociation is the brain’s way of protecting itself from overwhelming stress or emotion

I took this photo earlier today from my clinic room 🌈

It was a reminder that even though the weather is turning colder and the nights are drawing in, we can still look for glimmers. Glimmers are the opposite of a trigger - they are little moments of joy that can help restore calm and connection. This can be sensory things, such as the smell of coffee (or the beauty of a rainbow), emotional or social things such as a warm smile or a conversation with a loved one, and enjoying little moments like a sip of a warm drink or jumping in crunchy leaves 🍂

Looking for glimmers can help increase positive feelings and reset the nervous system. It helps us to be more mindful and can enhance our happiness.

What glimmers have you experienced recently?

Autumn is one of my favourite times of year. The beautiful colours, the slight chill in the air... It's the beginning of cosy season and what better excuse for some self-care. Darker evening mean we are spending more time indoors. Try taking some time to unwind, relax and do something for yourself, whether that be curling up with a hot chocolate and a good book, taking a warm bubble bath or maybe a mindful walk amongst the falling leaves. Enjoy that feeling of slowing down and being present. 🍂🍁

As a NCH and CNHC registered therapist, I undertake a certain amount of CPD per year to keep my skills fresh and relevant. Today I received my certificate for completing my COSCA counselling skills, which I’ve been working on over the past year. I really enjoyed this course and met some wonderful and inspiring people ❤️ The skills I have learned and refined whilst doing this course have been a wonderful complement to my clinical work.
