Congratulations to one of our dear volunteers on the arrival of their wee one. Did you know that you can (usually) carry from birth? We run our FREE Newborn Slings Workshop in both Stirling and Falkirk, suitable for both new and expecting families, so that you can carry as soon as you wish 🫶

🏆WHERE DID YOU WEAR THIS WEEK🏆

Last week one of our volunteers visited at their Coffee Club to talk about babywearing, show some neat tricks such as hip carrying with a buckle carrier, and offer free fit checks!

✨TOP TIP TUESDAY - THE MOST VERSATILE SLING✨

"I only want to buy one sling, but I need it to last more than a year or too."

What you need is a woven wrap - the most versatile sling out there 🙌

We rarely get asked about our woven wraps but we sure are passionate about them - and we'd love for you to try them too! If you need a sling that's affordable (though you can definitely find some luxury wraps too!), versatile and can allow you to be fancy or also just sling a baby and go, a woven wrap may be for you!

Does the thought of going to a sling meet worry you? What if my baby cries? What do I do with my older children? What if baby has a poonami just before they go in the carrier?

Hey.

It'll be ok.

We run our sling meets organically and flexibly. We're parents ourselves and we know how to work with babies, toddlers and even older kids. This is why we do hour-long booking slots but your individual time with the consultant/peer supporter is only 15-20 minutes - because you might need a break, or to be seen earlier because you have to pick up your older children from school, or be seen later because you've got a midwife appointment just before and they end up running late.

So if you need some support, please let us know - we're friendly folk just wanting to help you add a new skill to your parenting toolbox.

🏆WHO DID YOU WEAR THIS WEEK🏆

Did you know that you can carry more than one baby/child at a time? This is a tandem carry with one long woven wrap - but you can also carry with many combinations of carriers, stretchy slings, and wraps. If this could help you, please get in touch - it is very possible to carry twins or siblings.

✨TOP TIP TUESDAY - FRONT CARRYING A TODDLER/PRESCHOOLER✨

Is it possible? Is it safe? The answer is yes to both, so long as it's comfortable for you and your wee one. Practically speaking, it can be harder to reach around your toddler, and at some point they will be eye-level with you even with the waistband on your hips. But it's not unsafe and sometimes a front carry is exactly what you and your preschooler need.

You might hear phrases like, "Oh, you'll need to stop carrying them soon," or even in babywearing spaces phrases like, "It's time to move onto back carrying now," but there really is no magic 'age' you need to stop carrying, even front carrying. If it's comfortable for you and your wee one, carry on 🙌

🎊SLING STATS - SEPTEMBER🎊

What did we get up to last month? Our rebrand has brought with it a boom of new interest in babywearing - and we are thrilled to be able to support more of our community! Last month we had several tiny newborns and we were able to support the families to carry safely and comfortably.
