An absolute privilege to be a Mummy!
A wild ride to navigate - physically, mentally and emotionally.

♡ Client Feedback ♡

“Samantha supported us through the birth of our second baby. We planned a natural homebirth in water, with Samantha there to support us with the practicalities and emotion of a homebirth in water using hypnobirthing. In the end, things had to change for medical reasons and we had a planned cesarean birth at hospital.

Through all the changes, ups and downs, worry and emotion of the run up to our birth, including a serious risk to the baby at one point, Samantha was calm, friendly, supportive and flexible.

Sessions with Samantha before the birth helped us cope with the changes of plan and make a postpartum plan to look after ourselves and our older daughter. After the birth, another session helped us process the birth and think about how to manage our new responsibilities as a couple.

Perhaps the most helpful element of Samantha's support was her flexibility. She was on call not only around my due date but also informally for many weeks after the birth (even though she was in the middle of moving house!), so that we could talk on the phone in moments when I felt overwhelmed or wanted a sounding board to help me think through what I was going through. Thank you, Samantha.”

Your baby is born and so are you!

I use the word ‘mother’ as the physiological archetype for any birthing person. “Birth is not always about making babies. Birth is about making mothers” but birth is too often conducted in a way that forgets these important words.

The strength, confidence and power in your body, mind and spirit always needs respect and support.

The experience of birth will impact the whole of you for the rest of your life. So let’s make this positive and empowering.

Our NHS midwives are at breaking point. The statistics are stark and glaringly apparent that drastic changes need to be made NOW in order to support, fund and help make the maternity system better for all.

As a doula we do not replace your midwife, we compliment them and right now we support whole heartedly and stand beside our fellow birth workers in the NHS, demanding change from our government.

On Sunday 21st November at 2pm there is a nationwide vigil to highlight the maternity crisis and calling on action from the government to tackle burnout amongst healthcare workers across the sector.

One view on a birth in my words that I wish had been my reality.

What ever your birth wishes are, from home birth or hospital birth, water or planned abdominal birth, one personal desire can differ from another’s and that is ok!

Your birth is preciously yours to have and your wishes are all valid and should always be honoured by all around you.

Let’s make sure your birth wishes become your reality by having the knowledge and support to back them and release your power confidently all the way!

What are your birth wish desires? Have you thought about all the sensory elements that could comfort and nurture your journey, keeping that oxytocin flowing?

My special guest today is Victoria White Birth & Beyond who is a Doula, 3 Step Rewind Practitioner and Mother.

In this episode Victoria shines some important light on Alex Heath’s 3 Step Rewind Technique - recovery for perinatal trauma. She delves into the vast complexity of the brain and how it stores those tricky birth events that can haunt every day life for those present. This amazing technique can release the negative hold those traumas can have, without erasing the precious memory of a birth.

As we have been living through such extraordinary times due to Covid, this three step technique has an even greater value.

Head over to my website www.hellobabymamadoula.co.uk/vlog where you can watch the whole episode.

This was a super personal one for me having experienced trauma in my first birth three years ago and using this technique through Victoria earlier this year.

I hope you enjoy this fascinating chat and if you feel that you or a loved one could benefit from this therapy Victoria offers, please share and spread the love.

It’s all yours to own.

➳ Trust your body.
➳ Trust your birth.
➳ Trust your choices.
➳ Lean into your power.

There’s a lot of conversation about induction at the moment and some important changes in the language chosen towards birthing people.

“Recognise that women can decide to proceed with, delay, decline or stop an induction. Respect the woman’s decision, even if healthcare professionals disagree with it, and do not allow personal views to influence the care they are given…” (NICE Guidelines 2021)

What ever the wishes you have for your birth. Know your rights to back your decisions. Know the evidence based information to make informed choices for you. Know your tribe to feel fully supported every step of your journey into parenthood.

Today is the first of many. First of November (can certainly feel that drop in temperature can’t you?) and the first episode of my Hello Baby Mama Doula Chats!! Woohooo.

So my fabulous guest, kicking us off, is who is a Shamanic Healer, Personal Development Coach and Mother.

In this episode Clare explains exactly what Shamanic Healing is and how it can benefit everyone, especially trying/expectant or new parents. She unpacks her own personal journey in such an honest, empowering way. It was an absolute pleasure hearing her story.

Head over to my website www.hellobabymamadoula.co.uk where you can watch the whole episode in the Vlog section.

I loved our chat! I hope you do too and I hope you find it helpful on your own journey. Do share it if you think someone else might be interested in what Clare can offer in her support and spread the love.

Parenthood can feel like an epic up hill hike, can’t it! Overwhelming and exhilarating.

You don’t have to do everything and you absolutely do not have to do it alone.

A conversation I had recently got me thinking about how we can sometimes feel that allowing support in is a weakness. As though we’ve let ourselves down or are unable to handle our journey. When in fact it is the complete opposite. It is powerful to draw on the support from others and helps you to realign especially in your new role as a mother.

Recharging your light and nurturing yourself as much as you would your child is something that is too often forgotten in the bleary, sleep deprived and hormonally unbalanced time of early parenthood.

Lets lift ourselves and each other up as we do our children.

Give yourself the permission to reach out and accept help. Community is everything. Reset your boundaries. Reignite your inner trust and nurture yourself physically, mentally and spiritually.

⚘ You are brave.
⚘ You are courageous.
⚘ You have got this.
⚘ We are here for you.

If any of what I said resonates with you or a loved one, don’t hesitate to DM me.
