Yesterday marked five years with Memories 🤍

I have been in the funeral profession for ten years now, but the last five here have shaped me more than I expected.

When I arrived, I was a younger, perhaps more guarded version of myself. Working within a large corporate environment had taught me to protect myself, to be sharp, to lead from the front and never drop my guard. David and Helen saw past that. They trusted me. They backed me. And they allowed me the space to grow into the role and help push us forward.

For that, I am incredibly grateful 🙏

In these five years we have stood in countless chapels, churches and crematoria. We have supported families through the hardest days of their lives and carried an enormous responsibility with pride.

I know how fortunate I am to work with a team who care as deeply as they do. People who turn up every day with integrity, professionalism and heart. Yesterday I was genuinely overwhelmed by the gifts and the kind words from the team. It meant more than I can say.

Memories is not just where I work. It is something I am proud to help shape and protect 🖤

Thank you to David and Helen for their trust. Thank you to our team for their commitment. And thank you to the families who place their faith in us.

Here’s to continuing to raise the standard.

Yesterday we had the honour of caring for a Royal Navy gentleman as he was taken into the crematorium.

His coffin was draped with the Royal Navy Ensign, with his cap and medals proudly in place. He was accompanied by the Last Post, two standard bearers, and a guard of honour, marking a dignified farewell for a life of service.

It was a moment of quiet respect and gratitude.

We are privileged to play a small part in honouring those who have served.

M A R L E Y 🐶

On Friday Marley joined us to support his mum as we took his grandad on his final journey. He helped us arrange a service in the gorgeous St Mary’s Church, before travelling to th crematorium for a final committal.

Dogs feel grief too, and provide comfort and support and a focus for helping us get through.

More dogs on funerals please!

Bright and colourful was the brief, and Grestys Florist Stockport delivered for Anj.

With fantastic music, and love so abundant it was hard not to be moved, she was laid to rest last week.

Last week we were back at one of our favourite churches, St Michael and All Angels, supporting a truly lovely family who curated the most personal and meaningful funeral themselves.

From carefully choosing each flower for the coffin spray, to designing the order of service and creating a beautiful slideshow, every detail reflected love, thought and personality. It was such a privilege to help bring their ideas together and support them in creating something that felt completely right for them and for the person they were saying goodbye to.

Funerals do not have to be templated or prescribed. When families want to be involved and make it their own, the result can be incredibly powerful.

This was one of those funerals that reminds you why doing things differently matters.

Peter was a fun man, and his family wanted a goodbye that reflected that, with time, freedom, and a place that meant something to them. No rushing, no strict slots, just space to do it properly.

We held the service at Bredbury St Marks Cricket Club, overlooking the Goyt Valley, with music, photos, videos, and family tributes. Afterwards, we travelled together to Highfield Cemetery for the burial.

Peter was celebrated in a way that felt right for him and for his family. We were genuinely grateful to be part of it.

Fred was an outdoor man, spending his days fishing, stalking, shooting, and walking his dogs, this bespoke coffin was perfect for him.

An autumnal forest scene, with stags hidden in the trees, exactly how he spent his time.

As one year ends and another begins, we wanted to take a moment.

The start of a new year is not easy for everyone. For many, it brings reflection and the weight of absence. If today feels like that for you, please know you are not alone.

To the families who trusted us throughout 2025, thank you. It has been a privilege to care for those who mattered most.

As we step into the year ahead, our promise remains the same. To listen, to be present and to care properly and personally.

Wishing you peace and comfort in the year ahead.

Merry Christmas to everyone, we wish you all nothing but peace and joy.

It was very moving to be able to pause and reflect on the year, read the names of those who have come into our care, and share the evening with you all.
