Today was our Children in Need event! Unfortunately, the weather has been really bad here, strong wind and heavy rain brought trees down and blocked roads, so our singer had to reschedule. It didn’t stop the fun, though! Instead, we played a game of charity bingo and decorated biscuits in classic Pudsey style. We had a fantastic day, and a few residents even said they want our yellow shirts! One resident won both a line and a full house, she was absolutely beaming!

Our senior, Kheefayat, even stepped in to sing us all a song on the microphone. We wrapped up the afternoon with a group karaoke performance of “Sweet Caroline,” which the residents absolutely loved. One gentleman even went full a ca****la, tapping out the beat on the table while others joined in.

What a great day, thank you to everyone who made an effort to highlight the day!

It’s not everyday you find out that one of your team members has written a book, and it’s not everyday you learn that they’ve previously written a best seller too!

Steve Worthington, our head office receptionist, features in the ‘Hidden Talents’ section of our October newsletter and he’s written a new book called ‘The Falling Rain.’ We’ve had a sneak preview and we are sure it’s going to be another best seller.
It’s out now and if you’d like to buy a copy it’s available to buy on Amazon.

Well done Steve, we’re extremely proud of you.

Today we’re getting involved in Children in Need, a day dedicated to raising awareness of the millions of children who face challenges they never asked for.
Children in Need shines a light on young people who are:

✨ Living in poverty
✨ Acting as young carers for adults
✨ Coping with illness, disability, or bereavement
✨ Growing up in unsafe or unstable environments
✨ Facing barriers that limit their opportunities, wellbeing, and childhood

It’s a reminder that every child deserves safety, support, joy, and the chance to simply be a child.

We’ve already had our own little magic moment this morning. When Kirsty walked into Marple household, one of the residents pointed at her and said with excitement:

“I love your top, it’s Pudsey Bear!”

🎶 This afternoon at 2pm, we’ll be joined by Rebecca Done, who will be singing live for our Children in Need event.
Visitors are very welcome to come along and join in the fun! 💛🐻

Let’s keep spreading kindness and awareness today, for all the children who need a brighter tomorrow.

This afternoon, we were delighted to be visited again by the wonderful Chris from ZooLab for our monthly Animal Assisted Therapy session. He brought along a selection of weird and wonderful creatures, including a tarantula, a snake, a centipede, and some very cute gerbils!

Our residents had such an amazing time learning about and interacting with the animals. Everyone showed so much courage and interest, one gentleman, who’s usually a bit nervous around snakes, decided to give touching one a try, and he did it! We were all so proud of him for facing his fear and discovering that snakes aren’t quite as scary as they seem.

We also had a real ‘magic moment’ when Chris introduced the tarantula to one of our newer residents on Marple (One of our Dementia living households). It sparked a wonderful memory, he recalled a time in his workshop years ago when he heard a loud scream, only to find a huge spider about the same size! He shared the story with such enthusiasm and detail. Chris even took a few minutes afterwards to chat with him further, which was lovely to see.

Thank you so much, Chris, for another fantastic session filled with fun, learning, and laughter. We can’t wait for your next visit! 🐾✨

We made sure this important day did not pass without honouring and remembering those who made great sacrifices for our country. ❤️

Our Jolly Trolley was beautifully decorated to Remembrance Day, sparking some truly meaningful conversations about the World Wars and what Remembrance Day means to each of us.

Residents enjoyed painting more poppies and interacting with our interactive Jolly Trolley. We also made sure to visit residents who couldn’t take part in yesterdays art therapy session, so that everyone had the opportunity to join in and feel part of the remembrance activities.

The Jolly Trolley played a special video explaining the significance of Remembrance Day, helping to inspire reflection and gratitude throughout the home.

Lest we forget. ❤️

We had another fantastic Rise Sports Therapy session today across our Bramhall and Bredbury households! It was wonderful to see so many residents getting involved, the energy and smiles were contagious. 😄

A big thank you to Sean, who led some great group activities to build team spirit, as well as gentle 1:1 sessions for those who could benefit from a more personal touch. 💪❤️

Here’s a look at our planner for the week (a little later than usual!) 😊
Along with our regular activities, we’ll be taking time to honour Remembrance Day, and on Friday we’ll be joining in with Children in Need.

If you’re visiting that day, please feel free to wear something yellow or spotty to show awareness for Children in Need! 💛

Today is Remembrance Day, a day to remember and honour those who sacrificed their lives to give us the freedoms we have today.

Yesterday, we held a Remembrance Day–themed art therapy session led by our art therapist Jane from Creative Mojo. It was amazing to see how many residents took part, inspired by the purpose of honouring our veterans.

We experienced two special “magic moments” during the session.

The first was on our Bramhall household, where one gentleman, usually always on the go and not one to sit still for long, fully engaged in art therapy for the first time. He sat with Jane and painted two beautiful poppies independently. He was smiling and looking around at everyone else’s work throughout the session. We were all amazed to see him so calm, happy, and connected with the group.

Our second magic moment took place on our Marple household, where one resident is often joined by her family during art therapy, including her young granddaughter who loves to get involved. Before the session began, as Jane and Kirsty were setting up, the resident walked in and said, “Oh, are (daughter’s name) and the grandchildren coming? I didn’t know that was now!” When asked why she thought they were coming, she smiled, pointed at Jane, and said, “Because you’re here.” Sure enough, her family arrived soon after and joined in, as they often do.

We have proudly hung both pieces from Bramhall and Marple on our gallery walls for everyone to admire.

Lest we forget.

Today marks a special day where we come together to honour all those who sacrificed their lives for us. From the end of the First World War, we made a promise to never forget, and today, we keep that promise.

We feel especially proud to be caring for some of those very veterans and individuals who gave so much for our freedom. This morning, our residents gathered together to watch the Remembrance Sunday parade live on screen across our home.

A big thank you to Alison, our nurse on Marple, for making sure we all paused for the two-minute silence. 🌺

Lest we forget.🌺🌺🌺

This Sunday is Remembrance Sunday, a time to reflect and honour those who made great sacrifices for the freedoms we have today. We promise to never forget, and this afternoon we’ve been honouring that.

At Marple household, one of our residents took the lead in creating a beautiful window mural using poppy and soldier stickers. With just a little help peeling the stickers, she chose where each one should go and designed the whole display herself. She was so proud of her work and even got a few other residents involved to help bring her idea to life.

It’s been lovely to see those getting involved together in something so meaningful.
