It’s World Diabetes Day, and one patient who we have supported with diabetes is now supporting us back by volunteering on our wards.

Rachael Rowland is living with Type 1 diabetes, and says she has received outstanding care for the condition with us over the years, she’s given birth with us twice too.

Rachael now helps other patients navigate diabetes technology — offering real-world advice and support on what works best. Inspired by the care she’s received, Rachael is also taking her first steps to train as a nurse as well.
