Sometimes the most valuable support comes from someone who truly understands your experience.

As part of our Family Focus Programme, we offer mentor family pairing, connecting families of wounded, injured, or sick veterans and service personnel with others who have walked a similar path.

Mentorship provides an opportunity to share experiences, offer encouragement, and support one another through the challenges that can come with military life and recovery.

If you would like to learn more about the programme or the mentorship opportunities available, please get in touch.

At Mode Rehabilitation, the strength of our work is guided by the experience, leadership, and commitment of our Trustees.

Last month we highlighted the leadership qualities of our Trustee Captain Matthew Totton, and this month we would like to honour Brigadier Mike Taylor and express our gratitude for the support and guidance he brings to our organisation.

Commissioned into the Royal Logistic Corps in 1995, Mike has served in operational, command, and strategic roles across the globe, including deployments to Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Somalia. Throughout his career, he has led major logistics and training operations, supported key defence capability programmes, and mentored future officers at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Today, Mike continues to serve in leadership roles within the Defence Sector, advising, mentoring and coaching the senior leadership of overseas defence organisations. Despite often being overseas and balancing an incredibly demanding role, he continues to dedicate his time and expertise to supporting Mode as a Trustee.

His insight, experience, and deep understanding of service life help shape the direction of our work supporting service personnel, veterans, and their families.

We are incredibly grateful for Mike’s ongoing commitment to Mode and the time he continues to give to our mission.

Courage, discipline, selfless commitment, respect for others and integrity are just some of the values deeply embedded within military culture.

These values help build unity, cohesion and resilience within the Armed Forces.

Sometimes those same values that encourage people to stay strong and look out for others can also make it harder to reach out when they’re struggling themselves.

At Mode Rehabilitation, we understand the unique experiences of the Armed Forces community and provide mental health and practical support for veterans, serving personnel and their families.

If you’d like to talk or find out more about the support available, please reach out.

Whether someone needs a space to talk, help making sense of what’s going on, or support taking their next steps, we’re here to help.

If you or someone you know could benefit from support, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Behind every part of Mode Rehabilitation’s work is a team of people who truly understand the Armed Forces community.

One of those people is Trustee Captain Matthew Totton. After 27 years of military service and multiple operational tours worldwide, Matthew now brings his experience, leadership, and passion for veterans’ wellbeing to Mode’s board.

His insight helps shape the support we provide to service personnel and veterans navigating mental health challenges, building resilience, and transitioning into civilian life.

We’re proud to have Matthew as part of Mode and grateful for the commitment he brings to our mission.

🎥 Watch Matthew share a little about his journey and why this work matters to him.

📊 Research suggests up to 1 in 10 people may experience trauma-related difficulties, including PTSD or Complex PTSD, at some point in their lives.

PTSD and Complex PTSD are both trauma-related conditions, but they can affect people in different ways.

For some, trauma follows a single overwhelming event.
For others, it develops over time through prolonged or repeated experiences.

Understanding how trauma can present differently allows for more informed, compassionate support.

Both are valid responses to difficult experiences, and recovery is possible with the right help.

If any of this feels familiar, confidential support is available.

We are here for you at Mode.

Today is Time to Talk Day.

A day that reminds us how much a simple conversation can matter.

You don’t have to be in crisis.
You don’t need the right words.
You don’t have to explain everything.

You can just start by talking.

Today is a reminder that speaking to someone might feel small, but it can be the moment the weight starts to lift.

📍 Drop in. Sit down. Have a brew. Talk.

Here for each other, today and always.
