What a wonderful afternoon we have had, celebrating our 'Good' rating from our recent Care Quality Commission inspection 🖤💛

We welcomed Stockton's Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Bob Cook and Sandra to our home to celebrate with us.

Joe Black sang lots of our favourite songs and we loved singing along and dancing with him 💃🕺 He kept us entertained throughout the afternoon with not only his singing but his humour too! We still want to see him in his Tina Turner dress with heels though! 👠

Thank you to Jane and Angie for our buffets 🥪 The food went down well with a glass of fizz 🥂

Thank you to all of our amazing staff members who sang along and danced 🖤💛

And not forgetting our gorgeous residents and their families who are the reason we all do what we do ❤️

Well done everyone on making our home the best 🖤💛

Thank you to Tony from Stockton Mobile Library Services for coming in today and holding a Remembrance Day history session with us.

We all really enjoyed looking through the photographs on ipads and finding out more details after we'd shared our knowledge and memories.

After looking at the photographs he showed us some reminiscence items that he'd brought with him that most of us could remember seeing when we were younger.

We've put our requests in for what we'd like to look at next time Tony visits too!

It was lovely to hear people still talking about what they'd looked at after the session had finished and lots of memories being talked about.

Yesterday Jenny had a surprise of receiving a beautiful bouquet of flowers for her being the homes medication champion and receiving 93% compliant with the medication optimsation team. Her hard work and commitment to our home shows and we appreciate it 💚

We had a last minute change of plans so Margaret went swimming again 🏊‍♀️

There are no photos this week as Nicola went in the pool and swam with her. Not only did Margaret beat last weeks total by swimming 22 lengths she was much more confident this week and swam breast stroke, front crawl and back stroke ❤️

It was lovely to see everyone from Teesside Dementia Link Services and IB leisure again. They all remembered Margaret by name which makes so much difference when you arrive ❤️

This morning we remembered all of the soldiers who have fought through all conflicts by observing a 2 minutes silence.

Some of our residents and staff have been wearing their poppies with pride over the last few weeks.

'They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.'

Here are some of the activities coming up in November 🧡

Please note the changes to some of the dates that Julie will be in our salon due to activities taking place on those Thursdays.

Family and friends are welcome to join us for any of the activities and we would love for you to bring your loved one along to any community based activities. We are limited to how many people we can take along to these sessions and we like to take different people every month so that more people get to experience the trips out. We have already chosen who will be attending this months Elm Tree Social Club party so please let us know if you would like to come along with your loved one in advance and we can make sure they are ready for you when you come to collect them 🧡

Looking forward to December, Elm Tree Social Club will require numbers for their Christmas party so if anyone would like to come along to this one with your loved one, we will need to know numbers in the next week please. The date for this is Thursday 18th December starting at the club from 1.30pm. You would need to arrange your own transport for yourselves and your loved one 🎅🎄

This morning Jo and Shelly from Tees Valley Museums joined us to host a Remembrance Day themed arts and craft session 🎨✂️

We didn't know what the activity would be until they arrived so we were excited to find out we would be making sun catchers 🖼

Some of us made some for Halloween a few weeks ago so we were already expert crafters!

Jo and Shelly showed us all what to do then we each made a sun catcher with Margaret having time to make two.

We came up with the idea to add poppies on the front and the finished sun catchers look amazing.

Well done everyone for being so creative ❤️

We also had chance to look at some reminiscence items where we could touch the items and have a really good look at them. Jo and Shelly told us all about each item so it was educational too 🪖📕

Thank you to Jo and Shelly for coming in to give us another brilliant session and we can't wait to see what we will be doing at Christmas 🎅🎄

Yesterday we had our first knit and natter in November 🧶

Some of us started Christmas projects and the rest of us carried on with our existing knitting.

There was lots of concentration this week so there was a lot less chat but we still managed to talk about Margaret's trip to the swimming baths and Christmas.

Our next knit and natter is on Friday 21st at 1.30pm, you are welcome to join us ❤️
