🌺 Remembrance Day 🌺

Today we stood together proudly to honour and remember all those who have served and sacrificed for our country. Our residents and team joined together for a moment of reflection and took part in the two minutes silence , a truly special and heartfelt moment shared by all. ❤️

This afternoon, we had the amazing Chloe Rose Productions perform her beautiful show “We’ll Meet Again” and wow, it was absolutely stunning! 🎶 Everyone loved every minute of it. A huge thank you to Chloe for making our residents feel so comfortable, happy, and involved throughout your performance.

We can’t wait to see you again at Christmas! 🎄💫

🌟 Wish Come True at Lawton Manor 🌟

Our wonderful activities team members, Teri & Kimberley, always go above and beyond to make sure our residents’ wishes from the Whisking Tree come true. This week, Teri has done something truly special for Bill! 💖

Bill is a long-term Liverpool fan ❤️⚽, and his heartfelt wish was to have a keepsake from Liverpool FC. that he can treasure forever. Teri reached out and made it happen ,Liverpool have gifted Bill a signed photograph and a letter from their manager, Arne Slot! 📝✨

But that’s not all Liverpool F.C. have also gifted Bill two match tickets for a game in January! 🎟️

When our manager Rebecca, along with Teri & Kimberley, presented this incredible gift to Bill and his son, Bill was absolutely speechless, his face lit up with pure joy and you could see how much it meant to him. It was such a beautiful, emotional moment that touched everyone’s hearts. ❤️

Kimberley, our Activities Coordinator, said:

“I am very proud of Teri for all her amazing work and support in making Bill’s dream come true. We aren’t just a team we are a family here at Lawton Manor and having Teri as part of my team is such a privilege. Well done, Teri, for this beautiful moment!” 🌟👏

Baking Club Fun at Lawton Manor! 🧁🍎

Today at Lawton Manor we enjoyed another fantastic session of our much loved Baking Club!

This week’s sweet treat was apple turnovers and they were absolutely delicious! 😋

Kimberley, Teri, Bridie, Jim, Irene, Doug, Ron , Kathleen Bruce, and Liz all worked together as a brilliant team to create these beautiful pastries, from cutting the pastry to carefully filling each one with rich, golden apple purée. The turnovers were then baked to perfection and enjoyed after lunch with everyone’s choice of custard or ice cream. 🍨

They turned out so good that we just had to share a few extras in the lounge as an afternoon treat!

We absolutely love Baking Club here at Lawton Manor, it brings everyone together, keeps our hands busy, and best of all, gives us a chance to share and taste our homemade creations. ❤️👩‍🍳

Remembrance Sunday 🌺

Today we all came together and stood proud, side by side, showing our support and respect for our brave veterans, the incredible men and women who fought for our freedom and sacrificed so much for the lives we live today.

We couldn’t be prouder. Both staff and residents wore their poppies with pride as we honoured their memory. ❤️

Our very own Ivor had the honour of a visit from Mark, Phil , Tony and Steve, they enjoyed a lovely chat over coffee and cake, sharing stories and memories. ☕🍰

This afternoon, we enjoyed beautiful live music from Amy, who got us all reminiscing with some classic wartime songs, there was plenty of singing along and smiles all round! 🎶

We finished the day in our cinema room watching War Horse, a touching end to an emotional and meaningful day. There were definitely a few tears. 💧

🎆 Bonfire Night at Lawton Manor! 🎆

We had a wonderful evening celebrating Bonfire Night relaxing and unwinding while watching a spectacular firework display! 💥✨

Everyone enjoyed a warm cup of hot chocolate, and a few of us may have been a little cheeky and added a splash of Baileys! ☕😋

Earlier in the afternoon, we joined Barchester Live’s virtual event “Remember, Remember the 5th of November” learning some amazing facts about the history of Bonfire Night and enjoying the fun together. 🧨🎇

Today at Lawton Manor, we’ve all had such a lovely afternoon bonding over a glass (or two!) of Baileys while crafting beautiful poppies for our Remembrance display. ❤️

There’s nothing better than spending time together, chatting, laughing, and getting creative as we remember and honour those who have served. The poppies are looking wonderful, and the smiles even more so! 🌺

🎃 Halloween Celebrations 🎃

Residents, patients and colleagues got into the Halloween spirit of things by creating beautiful autumnal displays with painted and carved pumpkins, flowers and wreaths.

Many of our care homes and hospitals hosted fun-filled Halloween events with delicious treats, mocktails, live music entertainment, costume competitions and community celebrations.

👻🎃 Bewitching Tricks and Spooky Treats 👻🎃

Springvale Court Care Home, in Wrekenton, , was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween Adams Family got into full swing.

Colleagues embraced the spirit of Halloween by dressing up as The Addams Family. Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Cousin Itt and Lurch all visited Trinity Square in Gateshead town centre to hand out goodie bags for children and adults, and everyone had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Addams Family.

General Manager, Gemma Rooney, shared: “Our staff love any excuse for fancy dress day! – we’ve all had a brilliant time.”

The team at Springvale Court commented: “It has been such a fun day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the Halloween spirit. And seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces’’.

🔍 Thursday Night Murder Club at Caldy Manor 🕵️‍♀️

It was an evening to remember at Caldy Manor Care Home on the as residents, colleagues and friends from Heswall & District Ladies Circle turned detectives, suspects and stars in the home’s very own Thursday Murder Club-themed evening.

Inspired by Richard Osman’s much-loved mystery novels, there were hilarious plot twists and some truly Oscar-worthy performances, the night was packed with laughs and fantastic acting from everyone involved.

A huge thank you to all, the experience was a roaring success.

Safe to say… no one saw the ending coming! 😉

🏅 Silver Success for Hugh Myddelton at Enfield in Bloom 2025 🌸

We’re happy to share that Hugh Myddelton House Care Home in won Silver in the Best Communal Gardens category at the Enfield in Bloom 2025.

The team proudly received their certificate from the Mayor of Enfield, Margaret Greer, at the Chickenshed Theatre – a joyful moment for everyone involved.

A big thank you to all who helped make the gardens so beautiful this year, especially volunteer Pat and Resident Ambassador Rosa.

Jade Shea, General Manager at the home, said: “Our garden is not just a beautiful space it’s a source of comfort, activity and pride for everyone here. This award belongs to our entire community who have worked so hard to make it flourish.”

The Enfield in Bloom competition, held annually, honours the best in gardening and environmental efforts across the borough.

🎉 Rose Water Place Supports Local Fishing Charity 🎉

Rose Water Place Care Home in recently presented Cast A Thought charity with a cheque for £1,260 in support of their Fish and Chat project, which promotes mental health and wellbeing through the therapeutic benefits of angling.

Cast A Thought CIC empowers children, young people and adults through accessible and inclusive fishing activities that encourage mental wellness and connection with nature.

Colleagues and residents welcomed Dave and Helen from Cast A Thought to a small gathering at the home to celebrate and hand over the cheque, awarded on behalf of Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

Hadrian Rodriguez, General Manager at Rose Water Place, shared: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities and Cast A Thought ensures that every cast of the line brings hope, healing and togetherness in the community.”
