Today is World Diabetes Day. Podiatrists play an important role in the care of people with diabetes and pre-diabetes. We perform lower limb health checks including vascular and neurological status and actively work to identify risks, support health improvement, prevent deterioration and harm, and to save limbs and lives. We also review foot and lower limb biomechanics and intervene to reduce and prevent pain and pressure. Corn removal and callus reduction, removal and prevention of painful ingrowing nails and more. It’s Foot Health Week!

Your feet are a masterpiece of engineering. It’s important to keep them that way. As experts of the foot and lower limb, podiatrists are best placed to assess your issues, diagnose the cause, reduce your pain, and help you to regain your foot health. Check your feet regularly. If you have pain that has lasted for longer than two weeks, or is recurring, then see a professional podiatrist.

Your feet have over 250,000 sweat glands and produce approximately half a pint of sweat a day. Your feet work hard to keep you moving. Give them the care and attention they deserve.
