The menopause is not always celebrated in our culture, and the myriad of symptoms which a woman may experience during this time of her life (for example, sleep disturbance, anxiety, stress, low mood, hot flushes, mood swings and joint and muscle pain) it is hardly a wonder that society often portrays the menopause so negatively.
If the above symptom list felt like a personal description of your current experience however, you are not alone.
Menopause yoga provides a safe space for women to come together to support eachother.
The menopause is an important rite-of-passage for every woman as she crosses the bridge between The Mother and The Crone architypes. Again, The Crone, is often portrayed negatively in mainstream Western culture... However, this archetype represents wisdom, medicine, experience, depth and truth. This phase of a woman's life is as unique and individual as she is and can be an opportunity for growth and self-development. The destination of The Crone is a gift: we would do well to approach this bridge, together, fully prepared for all that may come along that journey.
Menopause yoga aims to educate and empower women to support them through the journey of perimenopause, menopause and post menopause. It is a mind-body practice which brings together Western medical science and Eastern wellbeing practices.
During the workshop, as well as enjoying a sharing circles with the others in attendance, you will learn a special blend of yoga postures, breathing techniques, and meditative practices, designed to alleviate some of the symptoms which come during this phase of your journey.
So please, reclaim the power of this period of life, and join us for this 3-hour workshop at The Shala! We start at 10am on Saturday the 9th of October, and will be finished at 1pm.
