🎨 Family Activity Day at Emma Bridgewater! 🏺💛

During October half-term, our Evergreen Foster Care family enjoyed a afternoon of pottery painting at the beautiful Emma Bridgewater factory!

Our foster families joined us, including foster carers, children, and birth children, along with our dedicated staff. It was a fantastic opportunity to come together, get creative, and make memories.

The afternoon was full of laughter, colour, and connection…a perfect reminder of the warmth and community that make Evergreen so special. 🌈✨

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the day so memorable. 💕

Why feedback and consultation is important to us?

💚To ensure that we meet the highest standards for our staff, foster carers and children.

💚To ensure that we maintain best practice and we continue to develop.

💚 & to ensure we are therapeutically informed in all aspects of the care we provide.

We don’t just say that we are therapeutic, we have to evidence it against a framework, so this month we hosted a peer review day where professionals from other services came in to see how we do this.

Thank you for everyone that took part in the day. The reviewers were astounded by the foster carers and their commitment to their roles, and they agreed that we had met all the standards.

They come up with some good ideas too!

We see this a lot with looked after children.
With PACE we can teach them another way, it takes time but with full time professional carers, supervising social workers, in house phycotherapists we work together to provide the life boat.

🌟 Workshop Follow-Up: PACE Parenting Techniques 🌟

Last week, we came together to reflect on Dan Hughes’ PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy) and the ways we’ve been using these techniques in our parenting and support roles. 💬✨

It was powerful to hear how each of us has adapted our approach….
whether it’s slowing down to meet a child with empathy in the moment, using curiosity to open up safe conversations, or finding playful ways to build connection and trust.

These shared reflections reminded us that PACE is not just a “toolkit” but a way of being with children that can transform relationships and bring safety, warmth, and understanding into their world. 💛

Thank you to everyone who shared openly about both the challenges and successes… your experiences help us all to grow together. 🌱

What's it like for children to be removed from their birth families? Traumatising that's what! That's why we provide potential foster carers with training from Cornerstone VR so they can fully appreciate the impact it has on our children and young people.

That way, they can really think about Fostering and if they have what it takes!

We are passionate about finding 'the right kind of person' as It certainly takes more than 'a spare bedroom'.
