โœจ Good News! Extra Osteopathy Appointments Now Available on Mondays โœจ

In the run up to Christmas, Iโ€™ll be opening up Monday appointments to help support you through this busy, often physically demanding season.

Christmas can be joyful โ€” but it can also mean more sitting, more carrying, more wrapping, more driving, and often less movement. All of which can take a toll on your back, neck and shoulders.

Here are a few simple ways to look after your body this festive season:

๐ŸŽ Wrap Smarter
Sit at a table rather than on the floor or sofa when wrapping presents. This protects your lower back, keeps your spine supported and reduces neck and shoulder strain.

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ Keep Moving
We tend to sit more over Christmas โ€” long meals, films, gatherings. Try to stand, stretch or walk around every 30โ€“60 minutes to keep joints mobile and circulation flowing.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Stay Warm
Cold muscles tighten more quickly. Use layers, heat packs or a warm bath to help muscles stay relaxed and supple.

๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ Gentle Spinal Movement
Simple seated twists, shoulder rolls or reaching arms overhead with a deep breath can help ease stiffness and keep your spine happy.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Listen to Your Body
That little ache or twinge is often your bodyโ€™s early whisper before it becomes a shout.

If your body is feeling tight, sore, restricted or simply in need of some care โ€” I now have Monday osteopathic appointments available throughout December to help you stay mobile, comfortable and well.

It is truly a humbling and privileged role I have in being an Osteopath.

We are complex, diverse and beautifully made, us humans. Connected body, mind and soul.

I strive to continue to really โ€˜seeโ€™ every patient that enters my practice, be present and create an environment where each patient can begin to heal. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

๐Ÿ Move with Warmth this Autumn ๐Ÿ

As the temperature drops, our joints can feel a little stiffer โ€” but small daily movements can make a big difference.

โœจ Keep moving little and often โ€” gentle walks, shoulder rolls, stretches.
๐Ÿงฃ Layer up โ€” warmth keeps your muscles supple and joints fluid.
๐Ÿ’ง Stay hydrated โ€” your joints need fluid too!
๐Ÿ˜Œ Listen to your body โ€” stiffness is a cue to move with kindness, not push harder.

A little mindful care each day keeps you flexible, comfortable, and steady through the season.

If youโ€™d like support with mobility, tension, or joint pain, Iโ€™m here to help at Lindum Osteopathic Practice.

๐Ÿ‚ Posture in the Autumn Season ๐Ÿ‚

As the days cool and we begin to curl inward, our posture often follows โ€” shoulders rounding, chest closing, breath shortening.

This autumn, try to stay open through the chest and grounded through the feet. ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ A gentle hourly stretch, mindful breathing by a conscious 12 deep breaths throughout the day or an osteopathic check-in can help your body adapt with balance and ease.

Stay warm, stay open, and let your posture reflect calm โ€” not tension. ๐Ÿ

What helps our mental and physical health?

๐Ÿ‘Œ๐ŸฝMovements - of any shape or form, slump if you like, stand on your head if you chose! But, only for short periods of time. Our bodyโ€™s are meant to move, be fluid to allow our body systems to function well.

๐Ÿ‘Œ๐ŸฝGet outside, whether itโ€™s standing, sitting, walking, running. Going outside, feeling the morning air on our faces, using the energy we have around us to boost our immune systems.

๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ Take deep breaths - this enhances our immune, digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems. The deeper movement of the diaphragm, stretches the fascia or connective tissue around vital organs within our bodies to hence all our body systems.

What a beautiful day to be outside, enjoying nature, and for me, discovering my new garden.

Stopping to watch a robin land on my partnerโ€™s shoe while we dig, enjoying the magic and privilege it is to have them as gardening companions.

Enjoying the late winter garden as it wakes up to spring sunshine and the promise of warmer days ahead.

Every day I step outside and take in the day, sunny, windy, rainyโ€ฆ whatever the weather, and we have lots of different types in the UK, to feel the day, embrace the energy of the day and take some deep, conscious breaths to start my day.

This is yoga ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฟ:
๐ŸŒฑ Breath awareness
๐ŸŒฑ Standing outside and opening your senses
๐ŸŒฑ Simple mindful activities to feel renewed
๐ŸŒฑ Giving yourself the gift of a few minutes of mindful moments.

Rest, itโ€™s what your body craves to be able to heal.

Rest, itโ€™s what your body craves to be able to heal.

"Let yourself sleep,
For you cannot see the world clearly
Through tired eyes.

And when you rise,
The world will become immediately more beautiful
Before your very eyes,
As you will once again be able to see
The magic that appeared invisible before.

Remember that in winter,
The trees appear lifeless,
But they are not dead;
They are simply resting and recuperating
For the seasons to come.

And so if your life seems barren,
Let yourself rest,
Trusting that you will wake
With the strength and endurance
To navigate the next season of your life with grace."

I had my lovely little doggie assistant in the practice today and as you can see, he is completely relaxed there!

One thing I notice he always does after lying down for a while, is something everyone should do in the workplace:

๐Ÿถ Stand up and take a big stretch, from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.

๐Ÿถ Get up regularly, move often and change position, even if you are staying seated, you can still shift and shuffle around.

๐Ÿถ Get yourself a drink. Keeping hydrated improves the health of you physically and mentally, helping you to beat tiredness in the mind ans stiffness in the muscles.

๐Ÿถ Give yourself some time during the day to go for a walk, outside is best, but even inside, just for 5/10 minutes, will help improve clarity at work and increase productivity.

Waffles will make you welcome when you come to visit us here and then show you how rest and relax for the rest of your visit. The perfect work colleague!
