🎆 Firework Safety & First Aid: Tips from Abacus Training
Firework season is here! At Abacus Training, we love the sparkle and excitement of fireworks — but we also know that a moment of fun can quickly turn into a trip to A&E if safety isn’t top of mind. A moment’s distraction can lead to painful burns, eye injuries, or fires. With a few simple precautions, you can keep your night dazzling for all the right reasons. That’s why we’re sharing our top tips to keep your celebrations safe and how to treat burns if accidents happen.
💥 Keep It Safe, Keep It Fun
Whether you’re a parent supervising little ones or a workplace planning a festive display, safety is everything. Here’s our friendly checklist:
Supervise at all times – fireworks are not toys. Children should watch from a safe distance.
Follow the rules – use fireworks only in legal, designated areas.
Distance matters – give fireworks plenty of room, and never try to relight “duds.”
Gear up – gloves and eye protection can make a big difference.
Be prepared – keep a bucket of water or a fire extinguisher handy, just in case.
Burns Happen: Quick First Aid Tips
Even with precautions, accidents can happen. If someone gets burned, stay calm and act fast:
Stop the burn – move the person away from the fire source immediately.
Cool it down – run the burn under cool water for 20 minutes. It’s the most important step!
Cover it up – use clingfilm as a sterile dry dressing.
Hands off – don’t apply butter, ice, or ointments straight to the burn.
Get help if needed – bigger burns, chemical burns, or burns on sensitive areas (face, hands, ge****ls) need professional care. 🚑
So go ahead, enjoy the fireworks — just remember: a little preparation and knowledge can turn a potential disaster into a safe, sparkling celebration. The best show of all is everyone going home unhurt.
