As a registered provider of Social Housing and Supported Accommodation, it is our duty to protect customers from harm but we strive to go over and above, to not only ensure the right measures are put in place, but to empower customers with the tools and knowledge to prioritise their own safety and wellbeing.

So, Fire Prevention Week can only mean one thing....another H&S roadshow! 🔥

Natalie, our Health and Safety Co-ordinator, hosted more drop-in sessions with our customers, raising awareness about fire safety in our their homes. She spoke with customers about the risks of hoarding, safe use of smoke alarms, and the does and don'ts of electric equipment.

It's Damp and Mould Awareness Week, and we’ve created a brand-new leaflet to help tenants recognise, prevent, and respond to damp and mould in their homes🏠

Damp and mould might seem like a common household issue, but if left untreated, it can seriously affect both your health and your home🚨

As we head into the colder months, it’s more important than ever as indoor air is warmer and holds more moisture. As this moist air hits cold surfaces like windows, walls, or poorly insulated areas, it condenses into water droplets💧

This condensation provides the perfect environment for mould to grow, especially in areas with poor ventilation.

This week, we are proud to support Damp and Mould Awareness Week💙

This year’s campaign comes at a crucial time, with Awaab’s Law coming into effect across the UK from the 27th October. These changes mean social landlords are now required to investigate and resolve damp and mould issues within strict timeframes... a welcome and important step forward to make sure that homes are properly maintained, and customers remain healthy and comfortable in their homes.🏠

With over 7 million households across the UK affected by damp and mould, this week is a vital reminder of why continued action is so important🚨

As usual, stay tuned as our H&S Co-ordinator Natalie completes her roadshows to share these messages with customers!👀

This week is National Hate Crime Awareness Week, and at Brighter Futures, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued 🤝

We’re proud to stand alongside our partners at Citizens Advice to raise awareness of hate crime and promote support services such as Uniting Staffordshire Against Hate.

This year’s focus is on disability hate crime, highlighting the challenges faced by disabled individuals and the importance of inclusive support.

So, what are we doing?

👉 We are looking at our colleague training offer for Hate Crimes, and how we can help to tackle these for our customers and colleagues.

👉 We’re currently drafting a Hate Crime Policy, which we’ll be sharing with customers at our Learning Disability Hub, some of whom have sadly experienced hate crime first-hand . We’re keen to hear their views and ensure their voices and lived experiences shape our approach.

If you think you may be a victim of hate crime, get in touch with Uniting Staffordshire Against Hate now:

We recently hosted another Focus Group at The American to discuss our upcoming Rechargeable Repairs Policy, which covers fair wear and tear, as well as the process for replacing or repairing damaged items.🛠️ 🪛

The purpose of the session was to make sure the policy feels fair, transparent, and supportive for everyone in our accommodation. The feedback we received was very positive, with plenty of ideas that will help us shape the final version of the policy including more detailed examples of what is considered fair wear and tear, what is considered an emergency and how communal areas should be respected.

As usual, customers received another stamp on their Engagement Loyalty Card to redeem for another voucher at a later session. 🎁

Overcharging a battery can cause it to overheat, which reduces your product’s lifespan and may even lead to damage such as swelling, leakage, or in severe cases, fire.🔥

Always charge lithium-ion devices on a hard surface, like a desk or bedside table, and never on your bed, couch, or under a pillow. To help protect your device, avoid leaving it plugged in for extended periods and whenever possible, unplug it once it reaches 100%.🔋

This World Homeless Day, we’re proud to stand alongside our value partners at Concrete, working together to tackle homelessness across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme💪

So far this year, together, we’ve supported 1,921 people facing homelessness.

At Brighter Futures, we want everyone to have a place to call home, where they can live safely and be supported to promote their health, wellbeing and independence.

We can only achieve this through strong partnerships and a shared commitment to make a real difference in our communities🤝

This World Homeless Day, we’re celebrating something real 🙌

Together with Brighter Futures, we’ve supported 1,921 people in 2024-25 across our city who’ve faced homelessness.

That’s almost 2,000 people who’ve shown strength, courage, and the will to rebuild, and we’re proud to have stood beside every single one.

At Concrete, we don’t believe a safe home is something you earn, it’s something you deserve. Housing is a right, not a privilege.

We’re here, every day, for the people who need us most. Fighting to make homelessness history. We’re proud to be part of a community that shows up, that cares, that never gives up. And proud to stand shoulder to shoulder as we keep pushing for change in our city.

If you’re going through it right now, you don’t have to face it alone. Our teams get it, no judgment, just support:

Today marks both World Mental Health Day and World Homeless Day, two important dates that are the heart of everything we do at Brighter Futures.

We understand that having a safe, place to stay and call home, is inextricably linked with mental health so remain committed to helping our customers their health, and wellbeing, and fulfil their potential. 🏠

To mark this day, we’ve partnered with Saltbox and Adullam to take a group of our customers to Alton Towers! 🎢🎉
Together, we’re building stronger communities and creating meaningful opportunities that promote wellbeing and social inclusion.
Stay tuned for the photos... 📸
