Nurses have such a wide variety of roles in Social Care and especially in PIPS, their core skills, knowledge and experience is vital to the support we offer.

PIPS welcomed Leanne Hume and Michelle Raddings – RCN Lead Nurses for Independent Health and Social Care (IHSC), Northern and Yorkshire and Humber regions to visit our services and to meet some of the great nurses we have working for us. Read their Blog here:

Last month, we had the privilege of visiting PIPS – a service that supports people with learning disabilities and complex needs to lead fulfilling lives.

This week marks Safeguarding Week and the North East and North Cumbria Learning Disability and Autism Network are pleased to be launching their new campaign.

All Behaviour Happens for a Reason. Instead of trying to stop it, try to understand the reason(s) why behind it.

The aims of the campaign are to:

✅Increase understanding amongst the health and care workforce that all behaviour happens for a reason. It is not a diagnosis because the person has a learning disability or is autistic.

✅Support the health and care workforce to understand and consider why behaviours that may be challenging a service are occurring.
✅To ensure people with a learning disability and autistic people are getting their needs met.

✅To promote reasonable adjustments and positive behavioural support.

More information and campaign resources can be found at: https://necldnetwork.co.uk/work-programmes/reasonableadjustments/all-behaviour-happens-for-a-reason/

🌟 Team of the Week – Middlesbrough Team! 🌟

For over 5 years, PIPS has proudly celebrated the incredible work of our teams through Team of the Week — recognising those who go above and beyond to support people to live the life they want.

This October, our Middlesbrough team truly embodied person-centred support. By listening closely to the person they support, they helped him build a valued friendship — something that meant the world to him.

👏 A huge well done to the team for making a real difference through compassion, dedication, and respect. You’ve shown what it means to put people first.

🎉 Celebrating Citizenship at PIPS! 🎉

This month, Positive Individual Proactive Support Limited held our 5th Driving Up Quality Event – and what a fantastic day it was!

💬 Together with the amazing Moving Forward Group, we explored the 7 Keys to Citizenship. The people we support shared powerful stories about why these keys matter, how PIPS helps them achieve their goals, and what we can do to improve.

🎭 A huge shoutout to the Moving Forward Group, supported by Skills for People, for their brilliant role play that helped bring the 7 Keys to life!

💚 It was a day full of laughter, learning, and connection – topped off with a delicious buffet and lots of smiles.

Thank you to everyone who joined us – families, support staff, managers, and most importantly, the people we support. Together, we’re building a community where everyone belongs and thrives.

On Nurses Day 2024, PIPS would like to thank all the nurses that work for us and with us to provide great care and support. Nurses are vital, especially in Social Care!

Nurses in Social Care hold a special set of skills, knowledge and experiences and PIPS welcome and encourage people to develop, the difference you make to people’s lives is huge.

We have a lot of great nurses in PIPS and recently that number increased even further with Rebecca and Aaron. Both were funded and supported by PIPS through the Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship and qualified as Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities (RNLD). Congratulations to you both and we are sure you will continue to improve people’s quality of life.
