As the clocks go forward this weekend, the hours of daylight grow longer until the summer solstice.

We feel the energy of the sun & earth as they blooms & thrive.

We MIGHT feel ready & able to shake of winter's grip and look towards the year ahead.

We might not.

Social media will tell you to harness this energy, run with all your ideas and take on the world.

I say - do what feels good to you - in your own body.

Don't be hard on yourself if your energy isn't there.

All in good time. Mother nature ain't rushing for no one.

Take a leaf out of her beautiful book.

Let's talk about false spring and the expectation to be full of energy and plans.

The weather crazy, the world is on fire AND we'll be missing out on an hour of sleep this weekend as the clocks go forward 🫠

This transition can be a difficult one, leaving our nervous systems feeling collectively frayed.

If this sounds like you, know you're not alone.

This week has been about staying cozy and accepting that we're not quite ready to come out of hibernation just yet.

And that's ok 😊

Growing up in Ireland, the magical Otherworld was woven through everyday life. Knocking on trees for the fairies, stone circles, magic lakes, stories of giants, banshees, heroines and my namesake the Warrior / Fairy Queen Meabh. There really is an unique innate connection to this spiritual world.

It's no wonder I turned out the way I did 😆

I weave this Celtic magic through my everyday practice in the treatment room very intentionally. We honor the seasons and the wheel of the year. Imbolc, Bealtaine & Samhain are all Irish language words and ancient feast days from the ancient celtic calender.

There is a resurgence of these ideas all over social media at the minute. It's essential that we understand their origins and contexts. Bealtaine is actually the Irish language word for May, as Samhain is for November.

This week we've had St Patrick's Day and a new moon. Today brings the spring Equinox - and all our essential oil choices this week have been a reflection of this seasonal balance & Spring vibe 🌙🌸✨️☘️

The vernal equinox tomorrow marks the true beginning of Spring 🌸

The sun crosses the equator at the moment of equinox, astronomically signalling equal hours of night and day across the world 🌍

From here on out, we will see longer days and shorter nights up until the longest day at the Summer Solstice 🌞

Modern irish culture is still deeply rooted in ancient celtic paganism with a deep connection to the land and the stories it has to tell.

This connection is maintained through myth, music, stories and a very real collective memory of generations of hardship and honestly, trauma.

We fought hard to maintain our unique culture and identity through colonialism, forced starvation & oppression.

And we are seeing it happen time and time again in other countries today & throughout history 🇸🇩

I think this is why we have held on to our ancient magical practices and reverence for the land and the seasons for so long. To demonstrate that it couldn't be taken away from us.

This is why this St Patrick's Day - 10% of every treatment will be donated to Trocaire's Gaza appeal.

Happy Mother's Day to Mary ☘️

My mum introduced me to essential oils, The Beatles and complementary therapies from a young age.

It started with those magazines you'd get in the 90's with a free essential oil every month. I'd be mixing and adding them to absolutely everything. Then it was yoga, which has always stuck with me.

Then in my teenage years - it was Indian Head massage to combat hormonal migraine and Traditional Chinese Medicine to tackle confidence-shattering acne. The TCM herbs tasted absolutely VILE. I was not a fan. But was (mostly) willing to give it a go 😅

It was this struggle with my teenage skin that led me to more natural approaches to skincare. And a more holistic approach to health and wellness.

In recent weeks, I've had the absolute privilege of welcoming some of my clients and their daughters. I often end up meeting the whole family through the work I do and it's such a lovely thing 🥰

I've loved seeing this as it reminded me of my mum trying absolutely everything to support me at that age.

Maybe without that exposure to the world of alternative therapies, The Metal Masseuse wouldn't be doing her thing today 🙏🏼
