🧾 Carers’ Rights: Know Your Right to Carer’s Leave

Under the Carer’s Leave Act 2023, eligible employees now have the right to take up to one week of unpaid leave each year to care for a dependant with a long-term care need, including family or close friends.

💼 This right applies from your first day in a job and can be used flexibly, in shorter blocks, helping you balance work and caring responsibilities without risking your job.

📣 If you need to take Carer’s Leave, talk to your employer as early as possible.

Your caring role matters. Your rights protect it. 💙

🗣️ Unpaid Carers: Know Your Rights
As an unpaid carer, you have the right to be included in:
✅ Care planning for the person you support
✅ Decisions about service changes
✅ Hospital discharge arrangements
🏥 NHS hospitals must involve unpaid carers early when planning discharge for adults who need post-hospital care, including healthcare support.
📢 These are Carers Rights. Your role is essential, and your voice must be heard.

🌺 Honouring Service on Armistice Day 🌺

This morning, volunteers and staff from Gloucestershire Carers Hub, as part of PeoplePlus placed a poppy wreath at Stroud station for the ‘Poppies to Paddington’ event, now in its sixth year.

Hundreds of wreaths travelled by GWR trains to Paddington Station for a Service of Remembrance. A heartfelt poem from the daughter of one of our volunteers, who is also a Carer and part of the veteran community, accompanied the wreaths, symbolising the deep connection between caring and service.

We’re proud to honour and support those who have served and continue to serve.
