This year I am attempting to do a better job of social media engagement.

If I am honest, social media intimidates me. It is so full of showy, flashy, and often times clique or generalising descriptions of what it is to be a human in this world. I find myself wanting to avoid that 'rat race' for want of a better word. And yet, it remains a key component of connection and community in this day and age. One that can, if utilised mindfully, can bring goodness and healing into our lives.

I am thankful that at this stage in my career I do not need to rely on social media for promotion. If anything, another reason I shy away from this modality is to prevent the heaviness I feel when my waitlist gets too long. The need for quality mental health services, especially EMDR, remains great and I often feel like I am facing a tidal wave.

I'm not too sure how I should show up in these spaces. But know that I am here. Always learning, growing, and doing my very best to walk alongside my clients' in their journeys. I am always happy to answer questions, provide support, and do my best to serve as many clients as possible - both in the UK & USA.

Here's to a healthy and productive 2025!

Today is World Mental Health Day.

We've come a long way in recognising and honouring the value and impact of our mental wellbeing on our physical health and overall functioning. We still have such a long way to go to prioritise mental health in the same way we do physical health (imagine if we had a World Physical Health Day - wouldn't that be weird?!).

Until that day comes I remain committed to my past, present and future clients in creating space for the human experience.

Emotions are normal.
Feelings aren't facts.
Shame is a heavy weight to carry.
Trauma is real.
You matter.
Talk about it.

It’s tough for me to admit this but being a Therapist is hard sometimes. It’s hard to know if you’re doing a good job or if your work even matters at times. Are you a good Therapist if your clients keep coming? Or if they stop coming? A Therapist doesn’t get graded or reviewed on their work and Google reviews aren’t really a ‘thing’ we seek 😅.

Several years ago I committed to sending out anonymous yearly surveys to clients to collect hard data on symptom improvement and service excellence. Choosing a Therapist shouldn’t be ‘hit or miss’ experience.

For full transparency here are the results of the anonymous survey. It’s an honour to do this work.

I’m excited to now offer the DeTur (Desensitizing Triggers and Urges) protocol after completing the required training.

DeTur utilises the principles of EMDR to reduce urges and process triggers for any addictive behaviors. It can be utilised with anything from alcohol, drugs, food, smoking, gambling to nail biting.

I am accepting new clients from late August. Please feel free to reach out if I can answer any questions for you!

In 2023 I’m excited to take several speciality EMDR trainings for impulse/addiction reduction and group EMDR.

I currently work with clients on 4 different continents and offer consultation to excellent EMDR clinicians both in the UK and USA.

While I wish I could clone myself to get the ever growing waitlist down I am forever in awe of my clients’ bravery and commitment to healing.

It’s an honour to witness your journey 🤍

About Rebecca

At some point in our lives we all find ourselves in a place where we need care and confidential support from someone outside of our family and close friends. You may be feeling frightened, overwhelmed, sad, or defeated by challenges that you are currently facing. You may be in the midst of a major life transition, trying to visualize life's next stage. Having an experienced, compassionate and non-judgmental professional to help guide you can make all the difference! Life can be difficult, but you don't have to navigate your problems alone.

My approach to counseling is strength-based, integrative, and solution focused. I am particularly skilled in working with clients dealing with mood disorders, life transitions and trauma. I utilize evidence-based treatment modalities to guide clients toward peace and wellness including EMDR, guided meditation, and guided imagery and visualization.
