We’re so proud of our incredible staff from all departments (the 3 in the picture and more) who have received certificates for a recent Advanced First Aid course they completed

Their commitment along with company provided training courses ensures our residents are always in the safest, most capable hands and receive the appropriate care and support

We were delighted to welcome back the Stourbridge Military Vehicle Parade this morning! Three fantastic vehicles stopped by our car park, and our residents loved chatting with the owners and getting a closer look.

We were also joined by the lovely children from Rednal Hill Infants School, who helped us paint the poppies during our visit to them last month, for our Cascading Poppies of Parkfield Grange display. They enjoyed seeing their handiwork and the vehicles before we all headed inside for a well-earned drink and some cake while the rain passed!

This afternoon we headed to our activity room to create some firework masterpieces

Using glitter, paint and colourful beads we created a display of colourful fireworks over a silhouette of the Stourbridge skyline

It’s not always singing and dancing

We love a statement event at Parkfield but sometimes we like to slow it down so this week we’ve enjoyed a lot of small group activities giving residents the chance to chat, share ideas and memories and get to know each other

We enjoyed sharing thoughts and memories with a reminiscence pack from Museum of Brands, challenging ourselves with word games and chatting about life at Parkfield Grange in our regular Residents Meeting

The Secret’s Out — Introducing the Cascading Poppies of Parkfield Grange!

You may remember us asking for plastic bottles a little while ago for a top-secret project… well, here it is!

Emily and Sam, with a little help from our fantastic young volunteers, have been working hard behind the scenes (and from their homes!) cutting, painting, drilling and connecting hundreds of donated bottles into beautiful poppies. Together, they’ve created a stunning cascading poppy display for this year’s Remembrance commemorations.

This sustainable art project is our small nod to our friends and connections with the Royal British Legion, and supports our volunteer work with this year’s Poppy Appeal.

The display is up from today and will remain in place until just after Remembrance Day, please do come by and take a look!

Our celebration of British Culture continues with a very special performance from Bedcote Morris

Residents were thrilled to watch traditional Morris Dancing with the opportunity to ask questions about the history of the dances and the group

Of course we couldn’t let them leave without some of the team joining in much to the delight of the residents watching. We think they did a great job

Some wonderful smiles from our last piano concert with the wonderful Sue Holmes and joined by one of our young volunteers

Sue plays a variety of music from all over the world but always brings it back to a good old singsong of the classics giving residents a chance to sing and play hand instruments… music is the perfect way to celebrate different cultures

What better way to continue our celebration of British culture than with the Royal British Legion Stourbridge Branch

This morning our wellbeing lead Sam, some of our young volunteers and residents joined Suzanne Webb OBE to man the poppy appeal table

We loved chatting with the members of the public purchasing poppies and felt very proud to be involved. Especially seeing our hand knitted poppies being purchased

We can’t wait for further opportunities to help out over the coming weeks

This week we are bringing our celebration of cultures closer to home celebrating all things British!!

We could let British week pass without highlighting our fabulous seated cricket sessions from Worcestershire Cricket Foundation

Residents who partake mention every time how fun and energetic they are so no one even realises they’re exercising

Working on strength and hand eye coordination residents enjoy throwing, catching batting and other games and truly show their competitive spirit. For our cricket lovers being able to chat with the instructors who play cricket and who have such an interest in the sport is also a plus
