Happiness is.... getting the planting beds ready for spring ☺️ I definitely embrace the wildness (mess) over winter, I think it's better for the soil and the bugs and birds to have leaves, weeds and last year's plants that are decomposing. I really like that things aren't bare over winter, but there is something quite satisfying in tidying and mulching in early spring, like wiping the slate clean to start the year. I put in some onion sets and moved some herbs around that weren't thriving!

I tend not to follow the rules too closely in my veggie patch, I like practicing using my intuition. It's a good place to do this, as it's pretty low risk. Sometimes I'm bob on with my ideas, other times things fail, but taking the rough with the smooth, it's a good lesson!

First pic I'm going no dig method to try and shift some fairly persistent grass. Second pic onion babies. Third pic apple blossom ooof what a beauty 😍

A new journey begins today ☺️ a 150 hour teacher training on the subtle arts of yoga. I'll be mainly studying at home on good old zoom, then an in person weekend at the end of each module. Really looking forward to the learning, conversation, growth and new perspectives that come from these experiences. I've slowly been curating my little at home yoga space to make it feel peaceful and conducive to learning... obviously there's a load of stuff stashed behind the cupboard doors 😂

A very lovely way to end our half term of yoga, with an autumn themed practice around this! 👆💚

We focused on the words 'letting go' throughout our practice. To release things we are holding onto physically and emotionally.

Sunday morning yoga workshop, 23rd April, 9.30-11am🧘

This will be a gentle yet energising practise, awakening the senses and the mind-body connection through breath work, movement and meditation. A deep stretch for the body as we head into warmer, lighter months.

Moving into 2023

Softly, energetically, breezily, heavily, slooooowwwly... 😴

However our bodies feel after the festivities, a commitment to move in some way might help us to lift what feels heavy (physically or emotionally) or calm what feels flighty.

Walk, jog (run?!), stretch, dance, kick a football. Whatever feels good.

And don't forget to breathe 😊

"As play-safety standards were introduced in Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom, innovation in the arena of a playable public realm slowed. As soon as the standards began to be referenced in liability cases, playspace designers began to follow them.

Designs outside the specifications were avoided and playgrounds were standardised into the “boring” versions that still dominate most of our play spaces, where the potential movement of children is scripted: up, across and down."

The new playground in Melbourne’s Southbank is the work of artist Mike Hewson – and it’s exactly the ‘risk’ it proposes that makes it so valuable.
