Today (1st April) marks the start of Global Asbestos Awareness Week.
Asbestos contributes to around 5,000 deaths each year, despite being banned in the UK since 1999.
Commonly used in pipe lagging, insluation panels and cement roofing among other things, asbestos can be present in any building constructed or refurbished before the year 2000 and illnesses relating to asbestos can often take decades to appear.
It's crucial that anyone working a job where they could disturb asbestos is trained to recognise it. This includes...
🔵 Construction workers
🔵 Caretakers and maintenance staff
🔵 Building surveyors
🔵 Heating and gas engineers
🔵 Telecommunications, computer, and alarm installers
🔵 Plumbers
🔵 Electricians
🔵 Painter, decorators, and plasterers..and many more.
The UKATA Asbestos Awareness is a half-day course that covers the different types of asbestos, common uses, associated risks and how to avoid and reduce those risks.
At ACT we offer this course via e-learning, virtual classroom, taught classroom, and inhouse learning options.
Our available classroom course is on the 12th May in Stourbridge, West Midlands.
Secure your spot at the link below and use code SPRINGTOIT15 for 15% off any of the above learning options until the end of May.
