The Nanny Behind The Needles ....

Having knitted a lot for my hubby and I’s three children as babies, I took a break from knitting as they grew older. I picked up the pins again a few years ago, when my siblings had their own children, followed closely by the birth of our first grandchild. Now the proud grandparent of two grandsons and one granddaughter, the knitting needles are always clicking away for them, for our friends' new grandchildren and our children's friends who are now having babies of their own. This is in between full-time work, in the car, in front of the tv, and up a mountain (that is another story!). Having accumulated a (extremely!) large quantity of yarn, and following a loss, I started to knit blankets for charity, for the premature babies at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital. Further research has shown the need for knitted items, not just blankets, but hats and jackets for these little miracles, together with outfits for the angels born sleeping, so that they may be given the dignity and love they deserve at such a sad time. In an age where self-care is extremely important, knitting is my escapism and relaxation. To be able to create items that benefit others is just an added bonus. By purchasing my items for your bundles of joy, it enables me to carry on knitting for those other bundles of joy that may need a little more care and attention at the start of their lives. Karen xx
